Same here with my Cade soap. Great scent, but barely there. I wish it was scented stronger.

Maybe you got an old puck, I find it noticeable. It's not as strong as the AS, but it is absolutely there for me.

I never had the chance to try the aftershave. I hope one of the crafts people here will make a Cade-like AS someday.

I bought a puck of Cade, and stored it in an open bowl. A few months later, unscented soap. However, now I use it as a super lather with the cream, which is otherwise useless. Not a big l'occitane fan. I know it is blasphemy around here, but just not a fan.

I have not used it to shave with but I think given the lack of scent - I just might end up putting it up on BST as I need some scent !!

I think it's like that so it can hardly be offensive to anyone. It's an excellent performer, which is the reason I keep it in my rotation. Doesn't get as much attention, unfortunately BECAUSE of the incredibly faint scent. But if you're making super lather and you like the scent of your cream for the lather scent, this is a great candidate for the soap part.

I personally think their after balm smells like my mother make-up. And not the good, rosy kind. The artificial disgusting stuff.

I think the Cade scent is subtle to begin with. Combined with storage in an open container, it does not surprise me that it reduces even more. My current puck is about 3 months old, I shave in the morning, but still find myself catching a whiff of its scent at least upto lunchtime.

I can barely smell this soap straight out of the shrink wrap. There's nothing wrong with it, but why use a good soap with little or no scent when you can use a good soap with a delicious scent? I prefer both Provence Sante and PdP to CADE.

I recently bought a puck of Cade and the strength of the scent was just what I expected it to be. It was stronger than MWF, MB and C&E but milder than Arko and Tabac. I find it to be the first glycerin based soap that compares favorably to the tallow based MWF, Tabac and Arko. This is one I will be buying again. I wish the carried a soap with the Bavx fragrance.

I enjoy the rather faint note - it's not overpowering like some soaps out there, yet it's definitely not unscented. Plus I've yet to encounter any aftershave or balm clashing with the CADE.

I believe Cade is vegetable based, not glycerin based.

Cade is a fine subtle soap. Not everything need hit one over the head with scent. It could do with a bit more moisturizing ability though. It's somewhat drying and chalky for me but lathers like a bastard. I'll second that Bavx shaving soap want. While they are at it, an AS splash with glycerin instead of glycol would be nice too - always thought Cade splash could do without the glycol.

Maybe they reduced the amount of Cade oil in the soap due to the cost.
Higher cost and the lack of a steady source of Cade were their reasons for discontinuing Cade after shave splash.
I have some unopened pucks of Cade soap that I purchased last year and they still smell like a lumberyard.
The Cade soap that I use in my rotation, stored in the older L'Occitane bowl, still has a strong scent.

I believe you are correct. Maybe I still haven't found a glycerin based shave soap that really appeals to me. Prior to Cade, only tallow based soaps worked well for me.

The only vegtable soaps that work well for me are French ones. I find Provence Sante and Institut Karite to edge out Cade performance wise. You should give them a go.

Also I find that with vegetable soaps you need to be a lot more careful with water ratios. Tallow soaps are a lot more forgiving in that regard.

It's an odd one. I have it sitting on my bathroom counter. Every morning I take the lid off the metal bowl just to get a whiff of that great fragrance (even if I'm not shaving with it that day). I've noticed that some days it seems very strong; others very subtle. Perhaps it's my sense of smell that's varying from day to day.

Strong or subtle, it's really a wonderful scent though, isn't it?

That's the best part! Not every soap needs to have a strong scent. Using lightly scented soaps means they won't interfere with any colognes I might be using.

So true. I love AoS Sandalwood but the scent lingers too long no matter how much I rinse!
