What's new

what drove the price of this bengall up so high?

check the bidding history, 2 people bid it up back and forth from $10 to $70 then both let it go to someone else...and they didn't get sniped, they both stopped bidding 8 hours before the end of the auction, and the winning bidder placed his single bid 15 minutes before the auction was over, without being challenged once
Maybe some shenanigans with friends bidding it up? Maybe first person thought those scales were more than plastic and others just bid along figuring it was worth the price based on the number of bids? But I'm guessing shenanigans....or money laundering LOL

crazy thing is,, i bought an erusta (a couple actually) and i found more for sale, but for $90..:scared: i paid $20 for mine.
so i kept in touch with the seller, and after the item had been listed as "sold" i asked him/her in confidence if it really sold for that. they did concur.
dont get me wrong, i love those blades, great shavers for sure. i just think different people have their own ideas about value.
its cool with me though. i got a sweet deal on some nice shavers.

i picked these up a while back. the first i believe is older. the second, even though it started out with same amount of patina , i believe is younger, or just in better shape.
i now have one in round point, one in square, and a "baldon" in a french point.
im a sucker for yellow scales and 3 pins.:001_unsur

i remember getting that round point for around $15 plus shipping and i thanked everyone on this forum for letting me have it. still working on my 7 day set.:001_tt1:

search "erusta" on here. theres only 5 or so threads. kent, you have posted on them. some pics were pre cleaning. maybe from the sale online.

My guess is someone who is new to this thought those scales were real ivory, and another person agreed.

probably although ide even expect a goat to know they were plastic. i like the scales but ill stick with the black vulcanite scales to save me 50$ each

Love the square point one, but it is junk, send it my way for proper disposal.

just to get back on point though. someone thought $90 was cool for an erusta. yet very few know what it is... it doesnt surprise me $70 for a bengal. with ornate scales.
to each his own. some have the cash, and dont care about costs.
