What's new

what does anyone know about this one?

It is a first quarter 1979 Super Speed. They are fine shavers, as are all earlier variations of the Super Speed. See my signature for more Super Speed info.

I use one which is a 1968 N3 and find it a very good everyday razor. I like mine so much I might even get another one as a spare! Highly recommend one.

I have a Z4 and it is a little different from earlier Superspeeds. The metal in the doors looks a bit thinner and the blade tray has a square depression rather than diamond shape. Obviously Gillette was making these a little cheaper at this point as they were pushing Trac II & Atra. Otherwise, it is still a great shaver like all the previous Superspeeds.

True. And in late-'79/early-'80 they changed the handle knurling to a diamond pattern. They're a decent razor, but well into decline in comparison to earlier Superspeed versions.
