What do you use for a lather bowl?

I am a face lather er but decided to start bowl lathering and was curious what people are using for their bowl. I have a pretty nice sized glass bowl, but I am afraid its going to slip and shatter.

So I would like to see what people have used with great success.

Thanks
Jeff

I'm using a latte mug. You can get one fairly cheap, and it works well. Another alternative is to go to your local walmart or target and pick up an inexpensive cereal bowl, or the bowl that is a touch smaller (I'm not quite cultured enough to know what it is really called other than "that little bowl").

I use a couple different things...

1. for creams I use a small decorative glass bowl (i place this bowl in a hot pot)
2. for one of my pucks i use a latte mug
3. for the other puck i use a vintage old spice shaving mug
4. for any other random puck i use another mug i bought from one of the vendors

I forgot to mention I am thinking about buying a Scuttle from Georgetown Pottery

I use a stainless steel bowl that I bought in the pet department at walmart. The bottom has a blue ring around it so it doesn't slide across the floor. Or in your hand as I prefer to say since it's my lathering bowl. LOL It was like $9.95 and is a decent size, not to big or small but just the right size and easy to hold on to. And I like to rotate the bowl in my hand so its easy to do with that particular bowl.

I use the bowl in the VDH shave kit.

Otherwise I'd use whatever Mug or bowl laying around the kitchen.

The old spice shave mugs are the perfect shape and size, and are still easy to find.
I like the older ceramic shave mugs, but I've broken a few - some I was very attached to.
Now I just use one of those enameled tin camping coffee mugs. Still a perfect shape and size, but unbreakable.

I'm using a cereal bowl from wal*mart, but I'm going to try a latte mug. When my hand is wet, the bowl tends to slip and I think something with a handle would be better.

I also face lather and sometimes use a bowl. The bowl I use is from a hospital in Amberg Germany that I swiped(shush, don't tell anybody). I found that it works perfectly for TOBS creams. The only thing I wish is that it was a little taller. Otherwise perfect bowl.

Right now I am using a cereal/soup bowl with very high sides but I think I will soon switch to a bowl with much lower sides, more like your typical cereal bowl. The problem is that the lather tends to creep up the sides of the bowl and end up on the brush handle rather that the brush tip. I'm hoping that a shorter bowl will remedy this, but I'm very new to wetshaving so perhaps I'm just doing something wrong.

Right now, and until my wife finds out, I use one of our ceramic cereal bowls. Lucky for me I am up, showered and shaved before she get up, otherwise it could get ugly. I think I need to breakdown and get a scuttle or at least a different bowl from Wally World.

I use a vintage 70's onion soup bowl, the thickness of the ceramic is great for holding in the heat after I soak it in hot water during my shower. Plus the little knub handle that those bowls have are great for holding it. Got it for 50 cents at a thrift shop.
