What's new

What do you think?

Any members into the "original" rock and roll? By that I mean the music of the 50's and 60's? I think do-wop, or street corner harmony, was the best.

Regards,

Paul

I thought I'd add a bit to this post. Starting back about 30 years ago I really got involved with the "oldies". I had a regular radio show playing nothing but oldies, and right about the same time I started doing M.C. work, doing stage shows with some of the legends of that music. I ended up having worked with some of the greatest and best known stars of that time.

I've always said, "There is no other music".

I grew up with my parents listening to oldies. By oldies I mean Rock from 54-62. It drives me nuts when I hear Bananarama on the local Oldies radio station.

My folks used to help out with CYC dances when my brother was a kid. As a result, they had a huge box of 45s from the '50s. i listened to that a lot when i was a kid. Since then, I guess that I listen to old rock filtered through new--like Southside Johnny.

Those years mentioned were the golden age of R&R, and I couldn't agree with you more about hearing that "new" stuff on an oldies station. I'm afraid though that as time goes on the real "oldies" are replaced with newer oldies. Its almost impossible now to find a station that plays the 50's anymore, and I hate to say it but that's the way it has to be. :cursing: :crying: :frown2: :a5:

Not so. Satellite radio is your friend. Choose the channel for your genre and you can get an amazing playlist without contamination. Heck, you can listen to 40's music all day without a duplication.

You're right Chris. I never even gave satellite a thought. Really the only time I listen to the radio though, is when I'm in the car. All I have now is regular AM-FM radio. I guess I'd better look into satellite radio huh? Thanks for the info.  :001_rolle
