What is the meaning or the significance of the numbers of the British (Aristocrat?) razors, such as the Gillette 16, 21, 22, and 66?
I'm just relieved that the thread wasn't asking about the numbers on the corners of blades....
+1I was thinking the same thing on reading the title.
What was Ford thinking....EscortThanx for the responses to my question.
So it's kinda like the numbering system that Merkur uses for its line of razors. The numbers are just arbitrary designations to identify the various models.
I can understand the Germans doing that, as most German words translate poorly to English, or are meaningless in English; but I'm a little disappointed that the British Gillette's couldn't come up with some attractive words for their razors. I think a word like "Sheraton," for example, is more melodious than say "#29."
On the other hand some of our American names aren't that wonderful or descriptive either, such as NEW, New Improved--Standard, Tech, and so forth.
And the Schick Krona. A krona is a basic unit of money in Sweden and in Iceland. I don't see the connection.
