What's new

What do I have??

I picked this up in a local antique store today. There are no visible markings on the razor at all, it has plenty of weight for it's size and the very bottom of the handle is flat. The handle has parallel grooves running up and down it, I put a NEW handle beside it for scale. It may be just another Frankenrazor to add to my collection.

Hmm...I forget what company it was, but I recently read about one that used to make a lot of Gillette clones...I happened upon the info in a random old BST thread I was reading (you know you're a B&B dork when you randomly read year old BST threads)

You are probably thinking about Rotbart, but this doesn't look like a Rotbart to me. Gillette clones usually looked much more like specific Gillette models. This one simply doesn't have enough Gillette characteristics. The positioning pins are far too short and that handle pattern is nothing like Gillette knurling. Even the clones get that close. Nope. I would say this is a product designed on it's own, but with the hints of the Gillette patent.
