- Prep: Hot washcloth
- Brush: Yaqi Sagrada Familia 24mm synth
- Razor: Rockwell 6S (R4)
- Blade: Crown SS
- Soap: Wholly Kaw Tempest
- Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Tempest
- Post Shave: Thayers Rose, Hyaluronic Acid and WK Tempest balm

First shave with a Lord Crown SS and it is another good Lord blade. Mild but smooth. Not the sharpest but a really good blade. tempest is an acquired taste for sure, but I like it. It is a super weird scent though.

I haven’t used the Yaqi in a while as I seem to have a new Simpson arriving weekly as of late but I’m glad I revisited it. You really can’t beat these for the price. Rock solid brush And it is easy to see why these are so popular. Soft bristles, holds a ton of lather, the handle looks killer and it never sheds a bristle. And well under $20. My Simpson M7 synth is better but not 4x better as it cost 4x as much.

A great shave this afternoon. My regular routine has been thrown off with some good morning ski adventures. Taking advantage of the current storm cycle. Happy Monday!

Snow Likely Monday Night Shave:
Fatip Slant Piccolo
Gillette Platinum (1)
PAA Starcraft synth brush
365 glycerin soap wash
Arko shaving soap
Dickinson's witch hazel mixed with Duro Limon Kolonya
RR American Barber splash

Clean, close shave; DFS+

Notes:
  • Going for full Turkish barber effect with Arko + Limon Kolonya, leaving off the flaming cotton balls for now
  • Gillette Platinum seems a good match with Fatip Slant
  • Starcraft brush with Arko is a great combination; effortless and abundant lather

Tonight’s head shave:

Razor: Leaf
Blade: Feather
Brush: PAA Peregrino
Soap: PAA Et Tu CK-6
Aftershave: PAA Et Tu

Overall rating 5/10

I have just started shaving my head again after taking about 7 months off. My technique is off.

I have been having a hard time with certain spots of my head and thought I’d try some Feather blades again. I stopped using Feathers because they chew me up. But 7 months away made me think maybe they’d work.

They did not.

I loaded all three slots of the Feather and set to work. It did not go well.

However, things started off poorly too. I either loaded my brush with too much soap, or didnt get enough water or (again, my technique is off) and had a really pasty lather. I kept adding water to my brush, but eventually figured it was as good as it was going to get. I should have just started over.

Oh well, there’s always tomorrow.

Blade: Personna Med Prep (3)
Soap: MDC Argumes
Brush: Zenith 505AK Manchurian
Razor: Timeless Ti .95 OC
Aftershave: Lucky Tiger 🐅

Another great shave, went over one little area to many times a little sensitive, other than that the shave was very good.

MDC was great I think the Ethos provided a little more slickness.

Muhle r41 head on a timeless barber style handle I recently just got in the mail. Beautifully hefty thing!
Paired with an Astra SP for a DFS
Gotta get used to the weight a bit but it only makes it just a slight more aggressive and does most of the work for me!
Overall 8.5/10 just because I like to chase BBS and not as comfortable as I was with the stock muhle r41 weight

Really nice soap but too aerated today due to an overly wet brush. Still, nice scent and slick enough.
Shave with razor paired with the blade was very good. So smooth and comfortable for 3passes without any issues even atg at difficult areas for a mostly bbs to dfs result. Excellent aftershave. Rating 9.7/10

48-hour beard

Merkur Progress opened up a bit more, w/ new Personna Red blade

Trumper's Almond Cream

Semogue boar brush

Clubman SR aftershave, Assured lotion, Clubman powder

Hot shower, a little La Toja as a pre-shave, then squeezed out the boar (which I find works better with creams than soaps), loaded it, face-lathered. The initial setting I used on the Merkur 2 weeks ago was 4, and again I found it planed me off for the first WTG pass without drama. Down to 3 for the lower lip, then ATG; down to 2.5 for the lip again, then the XTG and cleanup passes. Pretty darn close to BBS -- though I did draw a tiny speck of blood on the first pass on my Adam's apple, possibly because I was not paying the attention I should have. Otherwise a fine shave.

Verdict: 9.6.
