A Red “Black & White” Shave
I’m having another simple “healing” shave that I refer to as one of my “black & white” shaves, even though the colour red is prominent. Just because Chard52142 can coordinate his shave brushes to match his socks and underwear doesn’t mean he’s the only one that can colour coordinate.

My first time using this Gillette Red Tip. I bought it over a year and a half ago and misplaced it. It’s my birth year (and quarter) razor, and newly plated in platinum.
I’ve heard red tips are more agressive shavers, but I didn’t find that to be true. After the first few strokes I involuntarily checked to make sure a blade was present even though I had just installed it five minutes before. In fact, I think on my next shave I’ll install a more agressive blade, maybe a Kai.
Don’t misunderstand me. I got a fine BBW with the Super Thin blade, but felt that it was just gliding over my face on a film of soap during the third pass and I needed to do a little extra scrubbing.

A Black and White TLC facial. I think one more of these shaves and I’ll be ready for my second straight razor attempt.

Keep Your Eye on Your Nose

Hope the subdermal juice didn't turn everything red!!

Friday Travel Shave

Pre-shave: Washed face/tap hotwater washcloth/PAA Scentless Pre-shave Puck
Razor: British Tech
Blade: Perma-Sharp
Brush: Restored Ever-Ready 100 w/synthetic knot
Soap: Arko
Bowl/Mug: Travel dog dish
Post Shave: None
AS: PAA F Bomb

24hrs of growth
Another trip to Auburn.
After washing my face, I used the remnants of the Arko stick that was left from my last trip (just before Christmas). Lathered just fine..
Loaded a new Perma-Sharp in the British Tech, applied the PAA pre-shave, and worked it in before applying the lather.
Started on the left side of my face, and after the first draw, I started at the top of my cheek, and went a little too fast, and made the razor grab and skip, and gave myself 2 nicks. Highly annoying. Also picked up a nick on the right side of my neck, by the scars from my IVs from when I was 3. Good thing they stopped bleeding on their own, as I again forgot to pack my styptic pencil :mad2:
But the overall shave resulted in a very close, and very comfortable, shave, all things considered.
F Bomb is a great scent! It's so nice being able to smell again.

Seems like I've been waiting for Saturday all week.

Current production Dovo "master's" 6/8 round point straight razor
Edwin Jagger faux horn handle silvertip badger brush
Tabac soap
Current production "Denim" aftershave

Thursday was the hundredth day in an unbroken row using a straight razor, which is the sort of obsessive idea I get myself into some times. Before then I'd sometimes fancy a DE in the morning - particularly on a work day - but they've only come out of the cupboard when I've been unhappy with the edge and wanted to add a fourth pass to catch the odd patch of sandpaper, and that's a total of seven times since October. I can see them scowling at me as I walk past the cupboard (there's got to be a "frowning edge" joke in there somewhere), so I'll have to let them out for a run around the face soon. I'll reach for a straight razor first, but it's going to be good to remind myself that Other Razors Are Available.

(I though about doing two straight passes and one DE as a regular thing, but that seemed to be neither one thing nor the other.)

The Jagger's a fine brush, and Tabac, which I hadn't got round to trying until late last year, has found a place in my soap rotation.

I'll call it a "9" this morning, but I'd have been completely happy with the shave if I hadn't had to pick a number.

9.5 DFS+ A great shave with a blade brand I haven’t used before. For today, no significant stubble, along with no nicks or weepers.
Today starts the 1st blade in my inventory of 164 assorted blades.

An Italian 48-hour beard shave today!

Fatip Open Comb Slant (FOCS) w/ Personna Red blade (2)

Proraso Green cream

AP Shave Co. synthetic tuxedo brush

Clubman SR aftershave, Assured lotion, Clubman powder

Hot shower, a little La Toja stick as a pre-shave. Then I massaged a tiny bit of the Proraso into my beard, loaded the brush (it takes so little cream to make a great lather with this stuff), creamed my face, and began. I even turned off the computer, which I had playing some Debussy, to hear what I was doing. Almost no blade feel, a soft "shik! shik!" as I went, and the WTG pass was done. With this razor, too, I've learned that one pass on the cheeks would more than do for a smooth face. But I came back, ATG, careful on the lower lip and around the Adam's apple. Pass 3, XTG, and cleanup, and a nice prickling from the aftershave on a near-BBS face.

Verdict: 9.8.

Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless (1)
Brush: Omega 10049 Boar, 26mm
Bowl: Van Yulay

Soap: Soap Commander INSPIRATION
(Japanese Grapefruit)

Post: Thayer's Cucumber Witch Hazel
Grey Flannel Aftershave Splash

9.5/10
A really nice shave this morning. I think Astra SP blades perform a little better in the Futur but the Ladas is a good blade and did just fine.
Soap Commander is a very good soap. Japanese Grapefruit (smells like American grapefruit to me: ) was a good scent to have and I thought Thayer's Cucumber Witch Hazel along with Grey Flannel aftershave was complementary to it.
Three passes to a BBS.

Have a great day everyone [emoji3]
