Brush: AP Shave Co / 28mm Synbad knot
Soap: Barrister & Mann - Paganini’s Violin
Razor: Rockwell 6C / R4
Blade: Gillette Platinum

9/10: Tremendous shave. I tend to only keep one synthetic brush in rotation because I just have so many badgers and prefer them. I was happy to get back to this because it may be my best. The combination of the large knot size, easy-splaying Synbad knot and low setting makes this brush the most Badger-like I’ve ever experienced. It has some scrub ability, doesn’t splay too widely, is super soft and performs like a champ.

Soap: Williams Mug
Razor: Muhle R89
Blade: Astra SS
Brush: Omega Pro 49
Aftershave: Stirling Duke
Balm: Nivea Sensitive

Figured I'd use this snail snot slickness of a lather to burn through some blades I have that I never use and are collecting dust. Got a use out of an Astra SS. I still like to keep blades that I normally wouldn't use to test out in new razors but haven't been doing much buying lately.

Decent shave, can't complain. A little bit of irritation on one spot of my neck but it was an improvement over the shaves I normally get with an Astra.

Giving it a 7

nice comfy razor. another blade that does the work without you knowing it. seller from CZ had a nice Charnley Forest edge on it. I have no doubt that it was more than shave ready.........but had to visit the Jnat.

Back to the Saponificio Bignoli Indian Sandalwood sample today and I have it ahead on all aspects apart from ease of use to the Truefitt & Hill Sample I used on Monday (its a sticky cream so needs a bit more to lather it than the T&H but on slickness, cushion, post shave feel and scent it has the T&H beat). Similar to Mondays shave, there was no discernible scent with the Truefitt & Hill Aftershave Balm sample, although I do like their balms as a post shave regardless of scent.
Overall it was a very pleasant three pass shave, with no irritation or feedback from the Alum block.

Wednesday's shave- superb two-pass, with touch up, 9.9/10, near BBS, no nicks, two tiny weepers, no irritation.

Razor: Feather AC DX western style
Blade: Kai Potouch MG(4)-
blade is still good to go
Brush: Semogue 830-
liking this brush a lot as it's still breaking in, seems to be a great boar face latherer, I do wish they wouldn't have died the hair
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat- in my homemade shave stick, works fine
Post shave: cool rinse, alum, then some Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Tabac AS lotion.

Humphrey's WH, new for me, I think it smells a bit earthier than Thayer's. Seems to work as well; I'll alternate and see. I'm getting near perfect shaves each day now and loving it!

Great shaves wished for all; try and stay healthy!

Razor: Gem MMOC

Brush: Yaqi synthetic 28mm
Soap: Officina Artigiana Milano
Post: Officina Artigiana Milano splash
Rating: 9.5

Marked down for a weeper and a small patch of mild irritation but those aside, WOW, what a close shave! The MMOC is super efficient but still comfortable to use and after a few more shaves it will be better still. I love the smell of the soap and splash and the performance, I'd definitely buy more when it runs out.

Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb, chrome plated, with the two bumps on the baseplate
Blade: GEM by Personna SS PTFE (6)
Brush: Omega Baby Pro boar
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Rating: 9.25

This morning's shave on 2+ days of growth. Easy BBS after WTG/XTG/ATG passes, but slight burning and irritation, along with a few nicks. This was my first time using this brush with the Mitchell's soap, and this brush didn't work too well with it for me.

Warm water on face
1st use Razorock 400 Synthetic Brush
Queen Charlotte Soap Co. Esquire Sandalwood Shave Soap
Gillette Slim I3
Personna Med Prep (2nd)
Alum block
Suavecito Sandalwood Aftershave Balm

First time using a synthetic.
It’s stiffness was novel and though it doesn’t hold absorb lather like a natural brush, it made an outstanding thick lather. I was able to apply a thick, smooth, shiny coat on my face (yes, excess thickness is wasted, but it was luxurious).

9/10

  • I dialed down from level 4 to level 3 for today since yesterday's shave was so close. Today's shave is close, but not to the level of yesterday's shave
