Quick two pass shave this morning.

Razor: 1965 Schick Krona
Blade: Polsilver SI
Brush: Ever Ready 100T handle with synthetic knot
Soap: MLSW "La Fee Verte"
Aftershave: Southern Witchcrafts "Carpathia"
Balm: Nivea Sensitive
Rating: 9/10 - I should know better than to try a rushed shave.

Haven't shaved since last Friday. Wanted the hair to grow out more before I tried the Merker Futur on setting #6 for the first time. It slices everything very smoothly going with the grain.

I was a little rough going against the grain around the neck area, got some razor burn.

Razor: Merkur Futur
Cream Speick
Blade: Personna Lab Blue. 1st time using this.
Aftershave: Green Proraso balm.

Pre-shave: Proraso Red
Soap: AoS Sandalwood
Razor: Gillette NEW Long Comb
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (6)
Aftershave: Aqua Velva

Decent shave, albeit a few weepers. As much as I try to improve my AoS lather game, I still draw blood, which isn't the case with other products I use. It is what it is I guess. I'll keep trying.

Kyle, I assume that this is a new AoS soap? It used to be top-shelf years ago, but after the change I wouldn’t give it the time of day. Move on if you need to.

Todays shave:-
Prep - Warm Shower.
Brush - Rocky Mountain Barber Pure Badger.
Cream - Taylors Sandalwood.
Razor - Bambaw DE Bamboo Handle.
Blade - Astra Superior Platinum.
Aftershave - Woodspice Original.

Rating 7/10 - Being my first DE shave for 40 years, it went fairly well. I think i got the lather a bit too thin though, but no discomfort.
3 minor nicks on 3rd pass, but nothing too drastic. This was a far better shave than my previous cartridge system, and I feel very clean and smooth. Things will get better with practice I'm sure, but I'm pleased with this first time DE shave. I enjoyed the experience which took about 15-20 minutes longer than my previous cartridge shaves.
Pleased!

Rating: 7/10 for a head shave

After 10+ perfect head shaves with the Leaf Razor using only 2 blades.

I decided to change and use 3 blades. 2 nicks on the left side of the head. 1 nick on the right side, 1 in the back of the head. Back to 2 blades only for me.

Soap: Stirling Orange Chill
Blade: Treet
Omega Alum Block
Luck Tiger aftershave.

My Tuesday Morning Shave
Prep: Warm shower w/ a little conditioner on my whiskers
Two pass shave w/ touch-up: WTG, ATG/XTG
Razor: Schick Krona DE (First time using)
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1)
Pre-Shave Cream: Proraso Red, Sandalwood & Shea Butter
Brush: Vie-Long Horse Hair
Soap: Colonel Conk Natural Shave Cream Rio Grande Lavender
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive Cooling Post Shave Balm

Rating: 10/10! BBS! DFS+ No nicks! No irritation

  • First time using this razor. I really like it.
    • Usually the Nacet is a little aggressive its first use, but not today.
    • The Schick felt really light, but I adjusted quickly. I have been using my Merkur Progress, Rockwell 6S, and Karve for my DE shaves lately, which are all a lot heavier than this one.
    • I have no idea what the vintage this razor is. If anyone knows, chime in please
  • This Col Conk soap worked really well once again. And it matches well with my Vie-Long horse brush.
