Rating: 9.0/10 Very nice shave. One small nick, some lingering irritation
  • I needed a little more water with the soap today (perhaps the cause of the irritation?)
  • A small nick on the other corner of my mouth today. (Hopefully not a new trouble spot...)
  • I really like this razor!
  • It is becoming more natural XTG and ATG for me with the SR

Today I shaved like it was 1991 :c1:

Razor: Gillette Atra (M-4)
Blade: Gillette Atra Plus
Soap: Barbasol Shave Foam
AfterShave: Stetson Cooling Moisture

Shave was great. One pass with neck touch-up. Two blood dots. BBS.

This Atra handle is just like the one I bought and used as my first shave in basic training in the Army. I lost it back in the mid 1990's. I found this one a few years ago on the 'bay. They are not cheap when you find them these days as used examples.

Great shave! 2 pass WTG then ATG. I know I know, shouldn't skip XTG. But when I'm confident in the edge I know I can get away with it. I did get a few weepers on my chin and lip, yes yes probably because I skipped XTG. Otherwise this would have been a 10.

Have a great weekend wet shavers! :euro:

Sat 29 SOTD
Cream Arko Cool
Brush Yaqi 24mm Silvertip
Razor Shavette
Blade Euromax Platinum SE 2nd
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Hyaluronic + Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Good lather from Arko. Good brush for face lathering. Made it really slick for the shave...hardly able to skin stretch due to the slickness...
It's been awhile since last shavette shave but hand coordination is still good. In fact, able to perform a special atg manoeuvre seen on u-tube... hahaha
Able to do 3 multiple direction passes but still unable to get an efficient result.
In general the razor & blade combo was very smooth and comfortable but unable to get those short tough stubbles on the jawline & neck...despite various passes. 2 creepers seen later.
Icy water rinse followed by Thayers then soothed by Hyaluronic and AV Ice Blue.
SAS shave result with rating of 7.5/10

Prep: Dial Liquid Soap Razor: Viking Chieftain Brush: Omega 11126
Blade: Gillette 7 O’clock Yellow Blade #2 Shave #1
Passes: 2 (WTG & ATG) buffing A/R
Soap: Van der Hagen deluxe -- distilled water and Campbell’s soup container.
Post: Rinsed face f/b Dickinson’s Witch Hazel wipe down.
A / S: Old Spice Classic
Rating: 9.8 DFS+ Very smooth shave with virtually no stubble. I did have a few tiny weepers from new blade brake in. Getting ready for some lawn mowing and yard clean up before we get over 100 (F) and a THI near 111.

48-hour beard before heading off to get my hair cut

Hoffritz Slant razor, Rapira Super Stainless blade (3)

Tabac in stick form

APShaveCo synthetic tuxedo brush

Clubman SR aftershave, Assured lotion, Clubman powder

No shower today, so I did the hot face towel routine over a little Tabac as a pre-shave; then I face-lathered and applied the Hoffritz. The slant did its usual superb job: 2 passes on cheeks and lower lip, 3 plus cleanup on throat, and I got most if not all of the stubble on the left side of my throat that grows in a weird direction. Clean and near BBS. Verdict: 9.7.

Pre-Shave: Cold water splash - OPR Bay Rum soap
Soap: Goodfellas' Smile Sea Citrus
Brush: Simpson Trafalgar synthetic
Razor: Charcoal Goods SS LvL 2 w/brass torpedo handle
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (1)
Post-Shave: Cold water splash - hyaluronic acid - Lucky Tiger Face Tonic
AS: Lustray Blue Spice

I really like this Charcoal Goods razor. Have used it three times, different blade each time. So far the Gillette sings the best in it. Will try a Personna Med Prep in it tomorrow morning. The CG torpedo handle arrived yesterday. It has a bit more grip than the Vertigo which is predominately smooth and gets thin about half way down so even though it's a 4" handle, it feels shorter because of the lack of contact with my hand towards the bottom. Minor weeper on the right side of my neck right on my "trouble spot" ... fractional points taken off accordingly...would have been a 9.5. Otherwise, DFS/BBS.

Goodfellas' Smile Sea Citrus is another winner soap from that producer. Smell is very good and present during the whole shave process...very pleasant aquatic/mariner/citrus blend going on. Provides good prtoection and residual slickness for me, YMMV. Lathers in a heartbeat. I always bloom harder soaps and I did with this soap. But, as soaps go, it's a little on the soft side in the container, but not quite a croap in my opinion. The tentacles on the Sea Citrus lid attracted Squiggy! Who knew?!

All in all...singing the praises of Charcoal Goods today.

Happy Shaves, Everyone!

Today it is back to the AoS Sandalwood Soap, tallow formula. Another great soap no longer made with the same formula. The razor is a Wolfman SS SB 1.05 loaded with a Wizamet Super Iridium blade. The aftershave: Thayers WH and Clubman. The frag was TOBS Sandalwood. A perfect 10 shave.

Pre-shave: Long shower
Soap: Stirling Pumpkin Spice
Razor: Gillette NEW Long Comb w/ Fat handle
Blade: 7 O'clock Super Stainless (3)
Brush: Omega 10077
Aftershave: Old Spice

The more I use this puck of Stirling, the more I love it. Usually an evening shaver but used the clippers on my head, so chose to shave to even up the sideburns. Feeling fresh.

9/10 DFS. No nicks, no irritation.
