MMMonday Jan-13th-2020 - It is sure nice when a prior shave was so so and you pick up a Micromatic open comb and does the job with excellent results. I did a 3 pass shave this morning with the MMOC and it was stellar, I have gone from a 2 pass to a 3 pass lately with less pressure and getting lots of good shaves.(Thanks to my Oneblade Core because you need 3 passes to get a excellent shave!)

Razor: Gem MMOC - MFG 1932-41 variant MMOC I used- button less MFG 1930-32 variant usually just brass.
Blade : Gem Pesonna SS PTFE (8)
Soap : Razorock Santa Marie del Flore "Firenze"- Excellent lather properties & scent.
Brush : Yaqi Cashmire knot 24mm with black marble handle.
Preshave: Brush wash my face with CeraVe hand bar soap + adollop of clear Alloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 3. Even when it's -34 C or -30 F today
Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse.
Post shave : Avon "True Gent" with witch Hazel+ Avon "True Gent" aftershave balm.
Results: 10/10 or CCS,DFS,BBs + alum indicated no irritation + no weepers = :a17:

Monday SOTD
Soap: Goodfellas Italian Orange
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Silvertip
Razor: Newly acquired Gillette Tech
Blade: Gillette Platinum 1st
Postshave: Alum + Thayers Lemon + Clubman GentsGin
Face lather was excellent. Citrusy scent, creamy thick & slick lather.
The new razor was light but paired with the blade was good. Considered mild feel during wtg, xtg & atg.
How wrong can I be..LOL! Tried to chase BBS on trouble area at right jawline & below...with a xtg/atg angle and immediately nicked myself. Otherwise...a very good shave! Rating 8/10 DFS

Tuesday SOTD while on the road...can't missed a good shave session with my beloved shave gears...
Cream: MacaRoot & Aloe
Green Nubs Bowl
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Purple Mink
Razor: Gillette Tech 2nd use
Blade: Gillette Super Nacet 1st
Aftershave: Alum + Thayers Lemon + MacaRoot Aloe Gel
Lathering in the nubs bowl was fantastic. Less than 30secs and thick creamy slick lather results.
Razor pairing with the blade was wven better today...really smooth and sharp. Did a 4pass but did not chase BBS on right jawline & below.
As a result...a DFS with absolutely no irritation nor weepers. 9/10 rating!

Razor: Gillette Mach 3 disposable
Brush: Spalted Rimu classic handle with a Tuxedo knot
Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Lather: Stirling Vanilla Sandlewood
Aftershave: Witch Hazel Unscented
Rating: 0/10 DO NOT WANT

Felt nostalgic or something today and picked up a mach 3 i had stashed away.. It was like shaving with sandpaper. I believe they tug each hair out individually. Just awful.
Im thinking on getting that scent as a shave soap or a bar soap. How strong is it as i have dry skin but would love the scent

Shave 20200113

Continuing my 2020 Resolution to stop chasing BBS!

20200113_220549~2.jpg

Prep: Splashed water on face
Pre-shave: Cremo
Brush: Omega Pro 48
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Bowl: Timeless Blue
Razor: Ikon B1 Standard, Russian TiBam Handle
Blade: Personna Israeli Platinum Red (4)
Post-shave: Crystal Alum Stick; Dickinson's Hydrating Skin Toner
Aftershave Balm: Duke Cannon w/Menthol
Aftershave: Spanish Aqua Velva

WTG, ATG and XTG. Minor touch-up and buffing.

DFS++ with zero weepers, nicks, cuts or irritation.

The Ikon B1 Standard razor can be used with a steep angle under my nose and a medium shallow angle over the rest of my face. No pressure needed. Nice smooth, efficient shave. Touch-up and buffing produced no irritation.

The Ikon B1 Standard kind of flies under the radar. It, and the OC, deserve more attention than they get.

Confirmed my note yesterday on the OC head: The Ikon B1 Standard head shaves, to me at least, like a more efficient razor than the OC (without bringing forth additional blood or irritation).

Another great combination of Hardware and Software! :)

YMMV

8/10 - efficient but not as smooth as I'd like.
Razor: Global shave club Calypso OC
Blade: Gillette Rubie Plus (0)
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Aqua High mountain Silvertip Badger
Pre-Shave: Shower and face wash
Lather: Wholly Kaw Man from Mayfair
Aftershave: Stirling Arkadia balm
Additional Care: Thayers WH

FaTip Grande
Lord Super Chrome (3)
365 Glycerin soap as pre-shave
Omega 49 - face lathering
Fine Absolut Santal soap
Dickinson's WH + Roberts Rose Water
Nivea Sensitive aftershave balm

Nice, close shave; DFS+

Notes:
  • Lord Super Chrome still working well
  • 365 Glycerin soap rubbed on like a shave stick seems pretty effective as a pre-shave
  • Easy lathering with the Fine soap today

Merkur 34C HD + Personna Blue (3)
Hot shower
Proraso Green Preshave
Face lather with Razorock Plissoft Monster Synthetic & Proraso Green Shave Cream + small amount of Cremo Cooling
4 passes + touch ups to DFS+
No issues. No irritation.
Finished with Nivea Sensitive Cooling ASB
Pleasant shave
Rating: 9.5/10
