So today same razor / blade but thought I'd go to the higher priced MDC soap v yesterdays more budget Schapenmelk to see if price could have a determining factor .... also if the lanolin v vegetal made a difference.

MDC lathered great and the cushion and glide IMO was better than the Schapenmelk ... I got a fantatstic close shave with the Fatboy on #6 with three passes WTG XTG ATG and touchups under the chin / jaw line.

Post shave feels superb and again IMO better than the Schapenmelk and whereas yesterday the result was excellent the skin felt "coated" .... today again the result was even better and the skin felt softer.

So for me at least the MDC cost is worth it

Interesting chain of events for this shave...

Prep - warm shower
Soap - CBL Tonsorial
Brush - Semogue 620
Razor - EJ DE89, then switched to Rockwell 6S
Blade - Voskhod (1), then switched to Wizamet
AS - Thayers
Balm - Icoloniali Balm

Started with the intent of a nice mellow shave. It went awry during WTG. Razor was literally skipping across my face. Not fun. I first blamed the CBL, which I was trying for the first time.

Called a halt to the shave and switched to the Rockwell with a fresh Wizamet, plate 5.

Still a little rough so I switched to the #4 plate. Smooth from there on...

I’ll give it a BBS 9
