Stolen Clog Pruf a Diamond in the Rough
I know, I know! I already have the brass version of this razor, so why bother with exact thing in silver?
Well, I’ll tell you! It was mistreated, unloved and unwanted, sitting on eBay for a song with no bids. Looked terrible! The plating looked worn and the razor was caked in crap. So I stole it for a song.
When it arrived the opening mechanism was ceased and the cap was jammed shut. Oh oh!

Warm water, dish soap and a toothbrush brought this razor back to perfection. Fully operable and shining with no plating loss!

It rewarded me with unconditional love and gave me a perfect shave even though the blade was on its tenth outing. I did use my super slick “Soft Heart” lather to help out, but I got a silky smooth BBS from that fore lorn, unloved razor that had become lost in the system. I’ve already got all the adoption papers signed and filed.

I ended up writing what amounted to be a short story’s worth regarding the amazing shave I had today, but felt it was a little too much for posting here. Needless to say, the little badger, vintage razor, and shave stick brought some major mojo during and after today’s shave. Numbers just can’t do it justice. Epic shave day.

I began by changing out my PIR for a Crystal in the same old EJ DE89 I use every day.
Pre...hot water splashed on face
Lather...TOBS sandalwood soap with the Kent BK4
The action...day one on the Crystal. I had been reading here about comparisons between Personna Israeli reds and Crystals. I always start day one with a blade setting my expectations low. Imagine my surprise to get an incredibly smooth and close three pass shave. The A pass was virtually silent. I could have stopped after X!
Hot shower
4711 cologne as after shave

I cannot recall a better shave.

Speicktember 23, slacked off a wee bit on the old shave stick, but back with the program. Just hoping my SR is going to be sharper can’t go on. A decent shave, but I’m thinking it could be better. Still in GRUME, so any purchases as far as sharpening equipment will have to wait. Research for now.

Wow really? I love my DE too and I am hankering for the Karve Brass...
However, I am looking and looking at more Gems...like the Gem Clog Prof and the Damaskeen...

I think I’ve got them all except the 1914 and the contour. I don’t have a favourite as they all give me wonderful shaves. I also think the thicker SE blades may suit my face best. Don’t forget to try an Autostrop too. I have a bunch of them. I love their shaves as well as the GEMs.

The soap gives very good lather quality & performance but just too mild scent to my nose. Thick, creamy & slick though!
Shave with razor paired with blade for first few strokes was uncomfortable...it was skipping and pulling. Replaced the blade immediately to a well-used Elios and wow...huge difference!
3 smooth and comfortable passes with this excellent blade. Avoided weepers and irritation. Good bbs to dfs result. Post & aftershave was terrific...
