Face and head shave in the shower.
An excellent and perfect shave! No weepers or irritation.
Setting 3 for the first WTG pass, 2 for the ATG pass, 1.5 for clean up.
Head shave was setting 2.

Another blast with the Zenith big boar and Turkish white soap!

10/10

I haven’t posted in a while. Here’s an update. I had rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder back in October. During my recovery I had to use my left hand to shave and eventually transitioned back to using my right hand. A subsequent MRI on my left shoulder also indicated the need for a repair, and because of insurance I needed to get that done before the end of the year. I had another surgery on 12/31 on the left shoulder. I am currently in a sling but go to my surgeon next week. As with the other, I expect he will allow me to no longer wear it at home but when I go out. No active range of motion until six weeks.

I have been shaving about every three days following a shower. Since I can remove the sling for this, I shave immediately following and let the left arm dangle. My shaves thus far have all gone something like this:

Pre shave: Shower followed by a face wash with my PAA soap
Soap/Cream: Proraso Red (Sandalwood) from the can. Applied with the hand, although I used my Omega Professional Boar yesterday to spread over my face.
Razor: RazoRock GC .84P plate
Blade: Gillette 7 o’clock black
Post shave: Witch Hazel in a spray bottle; Nivea Sensitive Calm Beard and Face Balm

I have been doing the normal WTG, XTG and ATG passes. However, I developed a rash on the right side of the neck, either from something I was given during surgery and/or irritation from the sling. (Those of you who have had to use one know how doggone uncomfortable they are.) As a result, the ATG pass is pretty light. It’s getting better, but still a bit irritated.

As I rehab the left arm, I hope to return to a more normal routine.

Everyone have a great weekend! Let’s remember those poor folk in LA dealing with those devastating fires.
Hope you are back to yourself soon, Steve!

Shave 10/300+ in 2025
BADGERary - January GRUME - 2025 GRUYERE

Prep: hot shower

Soap: MdC Vetyver
Brush: Paladin Cleo - 2025 B&B Lifetime Member - 26mm Select Badger

FACE LATHER

Razor: Carbon Cx-Ti/Web (.71)
Blade: Lab Blue (4)

FOUR PASS SHAVE

Post Shave: cold water rinse

Aftershave: PAA Sacre Bleu

Face felt good and I had the lather, so I added the fourth pass (see Four Pass Shave link below). No issues at all; all four passes very comfortable and the Paladin brush delivered all the lather I needed. MdC is very cushioning and plenty slick, the Carbon handled it with ease. I wouldn't have tried if it was a first or second use of the blade, regardless.

A perfect BBS, gents.

A big thank you to @Benwustl for generously loaning me a Yates 921-M to try out. What a lovely shaver! The comfort and ease-of-use are very high, making for a relaxed and easy shave. The audio feedback and blade feel are both present and enjoyable. To me, it’s clear now why there are so many fans. I used a Wilkinson Germany (2nd use) and it delivered a drama-free BBS/BBS-.
Absolutely agree. The Yates is phenomenal. Check your DM, @Teutonblade.
