No picture today. Laziness won after a late day at work. Really good shave today though. I'm growing to really appreciate the Athena. It doesn't feel nearly as aggressive as my other razors, but seems to deliver similar results with much less post shave alum or A/S feedback. 9.5/10.

10/1/24 pre-work am shave. Busy day today so just now getting the chance to post.

Pre: Shower
Soap: La Toja Stick
Brush: Simpson Duke D2 in Best Badger
Razor: Game Changer .68
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium (2)
A/S: Gentleman’s Nod Juniper Reverie
Moisturizer: Kiehl’s Facial Fuel

Face: 2.9/3
Neck: 2.7/3
Nicks/irritation and weepers: 2.8
Zen: 1/1
9.4/10

BBS face/close and comfortable on neck but with a surprising bit of irritation, considering how smooth shave felt. This is my “worst” shave yet with a Wizamet but it was still pretty good. If this is what a bad shave looks like with this setup then I am pretty happy.

Pre: Applied hot water to face with brush. Face lathered
Razor: Unknown circa 1810 straight. "London" stamped on shank, but stamp above worn off. I'll just call it "London"
Soap: Stirling Sheep
Brush: Antique sterling handle with 18mm silvertip badger from TGN
Post-Shave: Cold water splash, Osma block, Lucky Tiger
Rating: 9.8

As good as I've had. Learning to "bullfrog" has helped get BBS...

Third shave for the week and it was pretty darn good. No blood was drawn, no irritation or redness and very little sting when I used my Alum Block. I was very happy this morning and I would rate this morning’s shave a 9.5/10.

This was the second shave with the Feather AS-D2 razor and Feather blade. Although this is a smooth, mild razor, I got a BBS Shave. I did my usual four-pass shave and did not need any touch-ups. Tocday’s brush was a Frank Shaving synthetic. The brush is very soft and mild on my face and neck. The Cella soap did its usual nice job. I have used the chunk of soap 26 times. I have carved out from the 1K block of soap at least twice, and plenty remains. It was a perfect BBS shave. Have a wonderful day, folks.

What a difference a razor makes. Same blade, but instead of the Merkur 41C using the more efficient RR Mentor and it was markedly better. Much closer shave, still very smooth. Very nice shave indeed. Not sure if this blade is thinner than I am used to, but it seems noisier in the same razor that I have used before. Very close to a BBS shave.
