Razor: Merkur 34c HD
Blade: Sputnik (6) and final
Brush: Semogue 620
Soap: SSC Island Man
Post: Dash of S70 followed by Neumann's 1911 AS Balm
Rating: 9.5

Well I loaded up that sputnik one last time in a 34c and was not disappointed. Normally do not move
blades from one shaver to another, but frequently give in to curiousity, so there you have it. Moved it from my
Gillette 1940's SS to the Merk and achieved an easy DFS with 2 passes, that was flirting with BBS in a few places.
No irritation whatsoever evidenced by the superior 70 which is not exactly diplomatic in providing feedback.

Cheers

Razor: Gillette Old Type ball end handle, gold plated, circa 1921-1928.
Blade: Astra SP (3)
Brush: RazoRock Barber 24 synthetic
Soap: Cella, red container
Rating: 9.0

A rushed shave this afternoon, but still achieved near BBS with a WTG/XTG/ATG series, except for a small area that I missed along the left jawline. One other outcome of rushing: two nicks - one on the neck where the razor was hanging up on one of those super thick whiskers called multigemini or something (which is when one whisker is actually a rope of many other whiskers). So I took a point off the rating for all this.

I am still liking this Old Type. It's an efficient razor that doesn't demand too much attention, even in a rush. The only note of caution is to be careful around the nose and ears because the blade tabs are exposed more than in later Gillette razor models.

Very pleasant, very close shave.

A 1950s style shave today on a 24-hour beard:

Gold fat-handled postwar Tech, just cleaned up, with a new Feather blade

Barbasol Original foam

Stirling SDM aftershave (well, okay, that wasn't around in 1955), no-name skin lotion (which I doubt most men would have bothered with back then), and Clubman powder

Did just 2 passes with a litltle extra touchup on the throat, so not near BBS, but very fine. I followed the suggestion someone made here when I posted about being disappointed in the last Barbasol shave I did. His advice: Put on the foam, wait my standard 3 minutes, rinse it off, then re-apply and shave. Worked a treat, it did.

2 1/2 pass shave this fine Sunday morn with a new razor that actually was shave ready. First time SR shaving with one of my beginning favorite soaps. Surprisingly well to me with above normal hydration. actually exploded into a ton of on the wet side lather that remained stable for the endurance of the shave and more.

9.8/10

be well all.

Sunday’s Shave

Going with GD RC Mallard Soap today. The brush was my Uomo da Vinci 290 Silvertip badger – one nice brush. The razor was my RR Aluminum Stealth Slant loaded with a Wizamet Super Iridium blade. After a four-pass shave I used cool water to remove any excess lather. I then applied Thayers Rose Petal WH followed by Clubman. The fragrance today was GFT Sandalwood. An excellent shave. 10/10.

Brush- Vie-Long BGS 2012 Butterscotch Beehive in Natural Horse
AS: Pinaud Clubman The Veg

Rating: 9/10
