What did you hone today?

So smooth

This evening I honed up my new C-Mon Cadillac, Henry Martin, and S.R. Droescher, Peter Hahn. The progression was Naniwa Chosera, Naniwa 4K, Coticule, Dan’s Translucent Arkansas, and finished on light slurry from the Escher Barbers Delight. It took right about 2.5 hours to hone all thee and strop them 30 laps on linen and 70 laps on TM old #2. The only one that gave me trouble was the Henry Martin, it had a nice smile, crooked bevel on the non-show side and a small chip at the apex of the smile. It was a nice evening, listening to Iryna read the news, while Sinatra played in the background.

I was going to use SCARGILL again for my next shave, but since I honed this Ramapo Warranted...I just have to shave test it! This is the first brother of two, and I will get to the other next week!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I lost a piece of the edge on my Puma.
Every once in a while it happens, not a small chip from use but kind of a weak point along the edge. Its not really deep but long (compared to a micro chip)

Been playing with the Barber hones again so decided to see what was required from a single grit high end B hone.
240 laps to rid the edge of most of the damage to the point where I thought it would shave fine and shave fine it did.
Smooth and keen like a great natural finisher.
One of the best Barber hones made IMO.

I put my 7/8 Stephan’s cutthroat through an Asano nagura progression on my Japanese Wakasa. I ended with 6 laps on CrOX and 20 linen/50 leather. Wow, she is plucking hairs. Can’t wait to test her tomorrow.

Sunday Razor of the seven day Osborn & Sons set! I used a Chosera 1k, Shapton Glass 4K, and Naniwa 8K before jumping to a natural progression I have been working on...shave test went great!
Great to hear that your M7DS is working well for you.

Yesterday I finished off refining my Gothic M7DS. After setting their bevels on 1k and 6k synthetic, they each went through a progression of 5, 3, 1 film and 0.5, 0.25, 0.1 diamond pasted balsa strops. They all look good and test well.

I refer to this set as my Gothic set as the days will be engraved on the spines in Gothic English with scrollwork. I will not be using this set in my rotation until their case is made and they are engraved.
