What changes has traditional wet shaving brought?

What changes has traditional wet shaving brought to your life?

Here's my story:

In the master bath that I shared with my wife, SWMBO had relagated me to about a third of a single drawer and one shelf in the medicine cabinet. No pushing or dealing on my part got me any more real estate in that room. :a53:

I was never satisfied with a shave. My beard is kinda coarse and (wildly expensive) cartridge razors never gave me a close enough shave. My control was to have a well trimmed and maintained Full Beard. :sneaky2:

I loved my beard and my wife hated it! :a3:

There was a bit of change in my life, a change that required me to shave my prized beard. Shortly after that my son-in-law (and daughter) stayed with us and he was shaving with a straight razor. He told me how close the shave was and I was hooked. :straight:

I started traditional wet shaving and collecting vintage straights. Of course, SWMBO loved the close shave, the aftershaves, colognes, and the smell of the bathroom. :a0:

Now I have a Shave Den, and she has one shelf in the medicine cabinet. :thumbup1:

Here's the bottom line!

I traded my well loved beard. In return received an expensive hobbie Straights, DEs, SEs, a collection of hygene products larger than my wife, the best shaves of my life, and controlling interest of the newly rechristened Shave Cave! :a14:

What changes has traditional wet shaving brought to your life?

I am now King of Da Wurrld...

1] I have less spending cash.
2] My obsession/curiosity with inanimate objects has skyrocketed.
3] I'm quite generous with my friends in regards to giving them shaving stuff.
4] I spend too much time on B&B.
5] I've become too quick to criticize non-traditional products; e.g., cartridges, Edge, etc.

Changes so far(It's only been almost 3 weeks!)
1. Bathroom time exceeds SWMBO's
2. Actually looking at the "cheap old junk" section in drugstores/grocery stores.
3. The bbs shave i get now is astronomical compared to the 'bbs' I was getting with my M3.
4. "Slick-Face"
5. Chronic Faceturbation
6. Asked friends family members that any future gifts be in the form of Amazon gift cards(can't be too specific or they'll start picking for me)
7. Alot of time on B&B
8. Less free time but more me time

Happier Faces!...

your story was entertaining with those well thought out smiley faces.

changes in my life include:
1) i walk in to every retail store and head straight for the shaving aisle. "sir, this is Auto Zone...we don't have a shaving aisle"......WHAT!?
2) i get those odd stares in public while faceturbating
3) AD=L$
4) i've recently noticed i get very defensive when discussing shaving with a cartridge user. "i don't want to slice my face all up" reeeaaally gets under my skin. THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE TO SHAVE WITH A CARTRIDGE!
5) ^^i have a shave complex ^^ = mine is better than yours.
6) i speed 90% of my free time here, which leaves very little time for anything else.

i think thats it....

In all seriousness and not being overly sappy, I have become a happier person since discovering wet shaving. I now have a hobby I truly love and get to enjoy every single morning (and sometimes at night for fun too). I feel I have discovered a bit of 'me' that I never knew existed.

My SWMBO who does not live with me rants because i take longer than her to get ready. My mother asked what i have been doing to my face because my skin looked like i just had a facial and plastic surgery. I enjoy shaving. Its my Zen time. I have become slightly masochistic as i look forward to the sting of the alum bar so i can gauge my progress. I don't spend a ton on my car any more. I have a yeas supply of blades and shave products for what a normal month would cost with carts. My electric is unused. funny thing is its got less or a resale value that my DE's do. They cost much less to buy tho. Imagine that LOL

amen to that.

I look forward to shaving for the first time since I was 13 or 14 years old.

My wife thinks I look years younger.

I know how to take care of my skin.

I no longer rub products on my skin that contain parabens or other questionable junk.

I can tell someone that I do 2 XTGs + 2 ATGs with a Feather in a Fatboy, wide open, and It actually makes sense. Now that's scary!

Yes to enjoy getting up and at 'em when the alarm fires off and now look forward to shaving. And, as an added benefit my old, battered and neglected face looks and feels thirty years younger.
