What Can I Use as a Case for a Couple of Vintage Razors?

I'm currently trying to locate (online) a couple of cases for a 1951 Gillette Superspeed that I've got on the way and a 1957 Gillette Superspeed that I currently have. If I end up having no luck at all, is there anything that I can conveniently use as cases for them?

My methods are of the make-do cheapskate variety.

For in the bathroom I use a combination of a toothbrush holder (suction cupped to the mirror) and a wooden smoking pipe rack/humidor that I picked up off of EBay. Between the two of them I can hang 10 razors (which is a start).

For travel, I have a rigid clamshell style glasses case. I wrap the razor in a paper towel and put it in the glasses case. There's actually enough room for two razors and some spare blades.

I gotta admit those are nice, and I spent a heck of a lot of time looking for them till I noticed that everyone who posts pictures is either from Australia or Great Britain.

Does anyone know if these are available in CONUS?

I'm using the travel soap holders for now. Bought several, they're tough, cheap, dust proof and protect each razor by itself. I need to go pick up some more!

mmm, never even thought about that.

Woooo , just found out it's actually a New Zealand product...there ya go !

This is a staple geocaching hide container down here and they're available in almost every department store and supermarket.

Come in various sizes and are air/water tight and relatively cheap, great around the kitchen.

Perhaps ask on a geocaching website what the equivalent is. Or are there some B&B cachers ??

Worse comes to worse, drop me a line and we can organise to get some sent overseas :001_smile

That's kind of you to offer.
SWMBO just mentioned that she saw something similar, though not the same, at our local Bed Bath and Beyond. I'll have to take a look.

Merkur plastic cases for razors fit Gillettes. The SS fits but is a little lose around the cases upper stabilizer bar, if a razor handle is thin it will shake a bit in the case because the stabilizer bar in the cases clear plastic hood fits losely around it. For example the thick handle of a Fatboy or Merkur HD fits perfectly snug. But the thin handle of a SS or Merkur Classic fits losely and rattles a bit but remains stationary in the case.

Ems Place sells the cases for 7.95 . Of the Gillettes I found they fit Techs, Fatboy, Aristocrat,SS. Slim Adj. are too long. I use them for storage , don't know how well they would work out for travel.

Well I'm broke, so when I had to go on a trip and needed a case, I rigged something up. I do photography, and have tons of empty film canisters, the plastic ones with the pop top on them. I basically took the top off and cut a groove in the canister that was as wide as the DE handle. I cut the groove until just past halfway down the canister. Then you can just put the top on and put it in a toiletry bag or whatever. It actually works a little better to make the groove a little narrower than the handle because the top will go on tighter.

That's a thinkin' man right there,

does'nt get cheaper than that

Thanks. I think it will go perfectly with my travel Tech the next time I need to go somewhere. I think the handle on it is almost shorter than the size of the canister.
