Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish.....Or just Ren wax. For years I have put this on all my handguns. When I was able to hunt (before cancer treatments & age) caught up with me, I used this on all my shotguns, and rifles. All metal and to include wood surfaces. I still find it to be a good protectorate for my handguns including my daily.

I have used wax and it makes a blue and wood gun's finish pop. However, I have also tested in regards to rust prevention against a good gun oil on bare metal. The waxed metal always rusted before the oiled metal.

Pretty good. Probably not a major problem unless you are a museum conservator.
