What are your "must have" shaving soaps/creams the should form a part of

IMO there are no ‘must haves,’ there are plenty that one ‘should try.’!)

+1. My suggestions would be similar.

Hard puck - haslinger, maybe MWF

“Softer” soap - Stirling

Cream - lots of options here. TOBS / Proraso/ musgo real.

Stick - arko. Maybe speick or Palmolive

+1

I’d add The Holy Black, The Sudsy Soapery, and Declaration Grooming to the list. Talbot is amazing too but very hard to get. Cheers.

Yeah, I've experienced most of what's out there already.

My top tier would be:
Grooming Dept
Tallow & Steel
Wholly Kaw (donkey milk version)
Declaration Grooming
Sudsy Soapery
PannaCrema Nuavia
B&M (Reserve)

I just prefer Grooming Dept and Tallow & Steel over everything else.

Absolute minimal must have - either Williams or Arko. Very most favorite - Haslinger Shafmilch honorable mentions - Proraso Red, Proraso Green, Cella and a bunch of creams.

Lea shave stick. Works admirably, no off putting scent, own container for easy travelling, inexpensive.

Hard soap: haslinger
Croap: chiseled face ghost town barber.

I haven't tried creams as of yet.
Very close second would be sterling

I would start off a new wet shaver with Proraso green cream and Cella and then recommend they add WK donkey milk and whatever American barbershop scent they prefer (DG Bandwagon if in doubt). Must Have is a high bar, but that's a great foundation right there.

Triple milled: Saponificio Varesino
Soft Soap: Declaration Grooming, Lisa's Natural Herbal Creations
Hard Soap: Mystic Water
Cream: St. James of London Sandalwood and Bergamot
Inexpensive: LEA cream

Everyone figures out what they 'must have' for themselves. For me:
  • CRSW
  • Barrister's Reserve
  • Mike's Natural
  • Stirling
  • Chiseled Face

My must haves include:

Hard Soap: Provence Sante Green Tea
Soft Soap: Boellis Panama 1924
Stick: La Toja
Cream: Musgo Real Classic

Hard: Saponificio Varesino
Stick: Palmolive
Cream: TBS Maca Root
Soft: Any (or all) of these - Declaration Grooming/Grooming Dept/Tallow+Steel/Pannacrema/B&M Reserve/Sudsy

Hard: MWF. Even though it can be challenging to lather for some, especially when first learning, it is worth the effort to learn because it is a standard bearer for a reason. My first shave with an excellent MWF lather truly changed the way I thought about soaps. Unfortunately, it took me a while to actually learn how to duplicate that awesome lather consistently, but the sticky on this site will open your world.
Soft:. Boellis Panama. My desert island soap.
Cream: T&H 1805
Stick: Speick
AS: Speick

Also, if you like warm lather, get a scuttle... Mine uses a cork to hold the water in a jacket around the bowl, and it keeps it nice and warm. Mine was $20 I think...

I see lots of talk about :
Grooming Dept
Tallow & Steel
Wholly Kaw (donkey milk version)
Declaration Grooming

But when I read their scents, they don't seem straight forward.....

Which ones are citrus? I like citrus .

I'll give it a shot
$ Cream would be Proraso Blue
$$ Cream would be TOBS Jerymn Street
Stick would be Arko also $ and it works well
Hard soap Haslinger Shafmilch.
Cella in a class of its own :)

Right now i’m Satisfied whit the soaps and creams I got. For me it took me about a month of shaves to make a complete rotation of my creams and soaps.
