What Are You Reading?

A couple of finished works today. First up, the latest in the 12yos favorite series. It's the 15th book, and while I've not heard anything, it feels like the final one. Not a bad ending. Not sure she's aware that it's the end though...

This one though, WOW! If you're a fan of Michael Crichton works, definitely consider checking this out. It explores time and memory, and I loved it.

Found at an estate sale yesterday--Union Pacific, the birth of a railroad--1862-1893. By Maury Klein. Hardcover 659 pages. Depth of detaiI is phenomenal. So far, a fascinating and captivating read. I wonder how many years it took the author to put this together.

I try to read through this (or other versions) ahead of the 500 every year. 3-5 page summaries of each race, along with the final results and earnings and a collection of records. Quite enjoyable.

Rama Revealed - The fourth and final book in Arthur C. Clarke’s Rama series.

It’s ok, but I would have bailed halfway thru the third if I wasn’t so interested in seeing how it all ends. The first book was amazing and works great as a stand-alone.

Amazing writing voice. "Southern Gothic" stories that make one take an introspective look at themselves.

Continuing to experience new to me authors. Finished the first Alex Cross book. I did enjoy the frequent twists in this one. Trying to not spoil a 20+ year old book. :D Not ready to jump in reading through the rest of these, but I wouldn't put it past me. I did like the character and enjoyed the ride. I can see picking one of these up on occasion if I need a filler.
