What's new

What are you listening to?

My pre-order of The Dreadnoughts new release made me dig out my Dreadnoughts, Siobhan CD's and lead singer's Nick Smyth solo mp3's. I'm not sure whether Nick's move from Ottawa to Vancouver was entirely voluntary, or whether he was escorted out of Ottawa by the authorities, but he's been a favorite of mine for a long time.

Instrumentals, with just a few words thrown in.
  • Wipe Out - The Surfaris
  • Pipeline - The Chantays
  • Rumble - Link Wray and his Ray Men
  • Green Onions - Booker T. & The M.G.'a
  • Tequila - The Champs

I loved instrumentals growing up in the 1960's. Booker T was a given.

Walk Don't Run - Ventures
Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny
Harlem Nocturne - Viscounts
Woo-hoo - Rock-A Teens
Ghost Riders in the Sky - Ramrods
Perfidia - Ventures
Midnight in Moscow - Kenny Ball
Green Leaves of Summer - Kenny Ball
Watermelon Man - Mongo Santamaria
Washington Square - Village Stompers
The Black Widow - Link Ray

If I wasn't hammered this late in the day, I might even remember others besides
Duane Eddy
Trashmen

How about "Let There Be Drums" - Sandy Nelson
And, even though I believe they were first recorded much earlier we still listened to Topsy Parts 1 & 2 in the '60's

Days Of The New got me started, but this took me where I needed to be.

I put together a CD of post-Kenney Jones Who singles, including the two from the new album due in December. I'm really liking the second single they released from that, All This Music Must Fade.
