What's new

What are you listening to?

Whats in my CD player now:

John Hartford: Aero-Plain

Well, its not ecactly in the CD player since the album is out of print...and the only copy I can find costs $200. I have to stream it whenever I want to listen. Still, it is my favorite bluegrass album of all time.

Right now: Are you Gonna Be My Girl by Jet

Playing through all the tunes in this weekend's set list. Could be interesting.

Shostakovich - 24 Preludes and Fugues, Keith Jarrett.

For a change of pace, Amy Winehouse - Back to Black.

The latest:
Richard Thompson's Sweet Warrior
Me too!
I saw him and the band 2 weeks ago in Northampton, Mass. They were fabulous! One of the best concerts I've been to in the last 15 years. I've been a fan for 25 years, but suddenly feel a need to spread the word.

If anyone doesn't know his music, you should. He's an amazing electric & acoustic guitar virtuoso and excellent singer and songwriter (first known as part of Fairport Convention). For what it's worth, Rolling Stone named him #19 Guitarist of all times. He's described his music as a mixture of British Folk and Rock and Roll with a slight jazz/swing influence.

He's the best kept secret in Rock & Roll which means he can be seen in relatively small venues.

Geez! I guess I am really out of it! I recognized very few names mentioned so far. Guess I am going to have to stick the Victrola in the closet and pick up one of those new eight-tracks and buy some new music. I have been listening to some Badfinger tonight; before that some Ella Fitzgerald. My taste in music is pretty ecletic.

Warmer weather for me typically means more tropical/beach oriented tunes:

Bob Marley & the Wailers-"Legend"
Jimmy Buffet-"Meet Me in Margaritaville" (2 disc set)
Any of Kenny Chesney's more recent work
Buena Vista Social Club sdtrk

And my "Miami Mix" on my iPod, which includes some Ludacris, Eve, Pitbull, Shakira, Darude, and the obligatory Will Smith paean, among others.

Miami mix to me would be my Miami Vice soundtrack album I picked up in 1986. :001_cool: Speaking of which has any one seen my wayfarers?

You said it. I like to think that there are two types of people in the world: those who believe RT to be one of the greatest musicians of the past few decades...and those who haven't heard him yet.

He is fabulous as a songwriter, singer and a drop-dead phenom on stringed instruments. I got into him with the "Across a Crowded Room" release and have been a rabid fan ever since. His albums are great and his shows are sheer genius. I don't think RT is even capable of releasing a bad album and I have a fairly large collection of his concerts starting with FC, with Linda, solo acoustic, electric, big band and one-offs and have never heard a bad show. RT is witty, articulate and wonderfully talented. If you get the chance go to his shows and buy his music...you deserve it.

Remixes of the Dr. Who theme trying to find one closest to the (Tom) Baker era theme to use as my new ring tone. (I am such a nerd.)

I've often said to my self that I'd love to have the Dr. Who theme as my ring tone. Such a cool little tune, and so recognizable.

I think it's just amazing considering what they had to contend with technologically to execute the original (Hartnel era) theme. See wikipedia for the history if interested.
