Yes to both questions. Lanegan has done a number of mellow-ish acoustic-y solo albums--this one is all covers. Sort of "Tortured Junkie, Unplugged."
A friend of mine turned me onto Death From Above 1979 in April, man they are intense.
As for the OP, been listening to a weird mix of the Pixies, Judas Priest, Crystal Castles, and Justice. If you are into electronica, it is a moral imperative you check out the last two.
Lately I've been listening to Philip Glass (especially Satyagraha) and Duruflé's Requiem. Brilliant stuff. In addition to classical and opera, I often listen to progressive rock and post rock.
