I'm always surprised at the lower proof of cask strength wheaters. Makes me wonder if that proof has more to do with their flavor than the actual mash.
Not sure why you're surprised...SMOOTH is in the name!I was surprised, it's a very smooth bourbon. I enjoy it.

HORRIBLE name, GREAT bourbon.
Second time trying an old fashioned. Bulleit bourbon, orange bitters, a little simple syrup, and orange peal. Pretty good!

Larceny Small Batch Bourbon, neat
Manhattan. Old Forester Rye, Iris Red Vermouth, Angostura bitters, stirred with ice, served up in a chilled glass, garnished with a Peninsula cherry and lemon zest.
Knob Creek Small Batch Rye, one cube
In our house it is Taco Tuesdays.
And served with them tonight was fresh margaritas. Cazadores Reposado, Grand Mariner and freshly squeezed lime juice. Made a shaker full. Served in salted martini glasses. Elevates them some. As if they needed it.

Ginger and Rye with Canada Dry Bold & Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye.
I really enjoy the CD Bold. Though it's too much for SWMBO. There are certainly stronger ginger ale's out there, but the Bold is easy to find and inexpensive.

I seem to have a hard time completely finishing bottles of bourbon. So about twice a year I’ll combine several last bits into an uninteresting bottle that’s about half empty.
So tonight is an amalgam of various sippers (Elijah Craig, Uncle Ernest, ?) poured into a bottle of Jefferson Reserve (which I did not love).
Sometimes the result is great. Tonight’s dram needed ice. Mellowed out ok!
