What are the old SE's made of?

Topic says it all. I know most of the old DE's were made of brass, but I don't think the same is true for these old SE's. If I didn't know better, I'd say they were SS. They're so solid.

OK, serious answer - brass.

At least, I'm pretty sure all of mine are - some aren't plated, which is the real giveaway, but the plated ones feel the same weight-wise. Maybe they feel more solid because the handles aren't hollow like they are with most DEs?

Pretty much all of mine are made from brass. Some have some steel in them (not stainless, but actual steel).

Yes, very possibly - I have a Gem Featherweight, and the head components on that look like pressed steel.

I think the gem G-bar is made of pot metal most are brass some have plastic handles though
