What am I doing wrong? PS Verlaine soap...

Hello all, got a question, are there any tips to lathering Provence Sante soap? I've used it twice and both times I've gotten subpar shaves and little lather, admittedly, the first time I might've been a little too quick on my swirls but the second time I made sure I got more than enough product and got the same outcome; my razor was even skipping on my face on the 2nd pass.

This is the first time I've encounter this problem since I started DE shaving and I've already used a couple of different creams and yes, soaps.

Thanks ahead of time.

I love PS Verlaine. It's one of my favorites. Before jumping in the shower, I soak the puck in a layer of warm water as well as my brush. After I return, I dump the water off the puck and squeeze half the water out of my brush. It lathers effortlessly. I generally use a boar or a stiff (2 band) badger when lathering it.

Just showered and shaved with it and your tip worked like a charm, thanks a million... And dang that's a good as$ soap, I still don't know if it's better than pre de Provence performance wise but scent wise it is.

Skipping is usually a sign of a lather that isn't properly hydrated. To continue your success with the advice that Brook gave you, make sure that you're working the lather long enough and adding enough water every time.

I agree with you on the scents of the PS, but found the performance to be overall underwhelming and it was relegated to a shower soap for me.

Thanks, I did spend more time than usual whipping that lather, Ive also added more water than usual. I've been spoiled by my other creams and soaps, lol.

Shame you can't get a good shave with this stuff if you like the scent, I feel the same way with T&H sandalwood, crappy performance amazing smell, so I know how you feel. :thumbdown
