What's new

What about Trumper's Violet?

There's been a lot of love for Tabac, MWF, Cella, Valroba, Palmolive, and others on the forum. It makes sense: these soaps perform great and are easily affordable.

But what about Trumper's Violet? This was the soap that got my imagination going when I read Corey Greenberg's blog about wetshaving. I started soon after that.

I never did try the T.V., though.

I'm loving Cella, am really liking Tabac after one try, have some Valroba waiting in the wings, and look forward to trying some MWF and Palmolive stick sometime soon.

Apart from the unique scent, is there anything to recommend Trumper's Violet over the soaps above?

Alot of people on here love the stuff. I didn't and ended up selling mine on BST. Didn't care to much for the scent. There was nothing gross about it, i just like others better.

I posted a question about it a while back, while I was waiting for mine to come in the post, and I've subsequently neglected to post an update (which I will hopefully rectify soon). In any case, I love it, and I have to force myself to use other stuff to keep a rotation going (and it still gets pushed to the front of the queue on many occasions). I find it to lather more easily than the other Trumper's soaps (and the lather has an unctous quality which makes it very difficult to believe the soap is a non-tallow formula). I find it to be milder on my skin than any of the other flavours. The scent, also, is as beautiful as it is unique. What's not to love?

Corey was a big fan of the Trumpers Violet cream, I believe. As for the soap, well all Trumpers soaps are excellent imo. They are very hard milled and perhaps don't lather as easily for some as Tabac, AoS, or the soft Italian soaps. I'd prefer Trumpers to those though. ymmv

I haven't tried Trumpers violet but have got SCS Parma violet and I love it, smells fantastic and lathers up great and half the price!

Trumpers Violet is a great soap. It's not a snap to lather like AoS and Tabac, but it's still pretty easy. I'm also a big fan of the scent, and did use the Violet cream first.

Trumper's Violet is my favourite shaving soap from Trumper's and my favourite overall just edging ahead of MWF and Trumper's Rose. I use it more than any other and find that for me it can't be beaten on performance and scent, I could use this soap exclusively.

Trumpers Violet is an excellent soap as are all of their soaps. I purchased the violet on a whim when I was ordering other products and I am very glad that I did. It has become a favorite. I do not have any trouble lathering this soap and in fact it produces plenty of lather for three to four passes.

I think that you will enjoy it and if you don't, there is always the BST.

Enjoy your shaves,

Doug
