wetter is better!

I agree with more water being a good thing. I watched a couple videos for lathering tips with Stirling soap that are on their site. I found the best ratio is when the lather just turns slightly glossy, then adding just a couple more drops. The foam collapses a bit and gets a bit thinner, but is crazy slick and protective. If you get big bubbles you've gone too far.

I started shaving before the internet, shave forums, and YouTube. Seemed to make sense a wet brush worked best, after all you don't use a dry washrag when bathing. I've tried the dry brush method, it takes too much work and the lather can be iffy, maybe a better fit with creams. Thin, wet, and slick is the best lather in my humble opinion. Soaps folks have trouble with - Williams, MWF, etc. - whip up quick and are outstanding performers.

I tend to like more cushion the first two passes, and a slicker, "wet" lather on the final. Keeps my face from getting irritated while still getting the close ATG in the end.
