What's new

Well, my first straight shave is done

I just finished my first shave with a straight. It wasn't so bad. I didn't cut myself at all, and most of my face/neck is dfs. I have a lot of trouble switching hands, but if I just exert some willpower I can get the angle right. All in all, a positive experience. I've got a date tomorrow, but soon thereafter I hope to resume my training :tongue_sm

Congrats and keep us posted. Tomorrow will mark my fifth straight razor shave. Switching hands is odd but it got better with my second shave so I assume it will continue to do so.

Good Job. Im on my 11th shave with the straight. Getting better each time. Be patient.

Congratulations, it feels good [to survive] doesn't it? Don't worry about left hand awkwardness. Before long you won't notice the difference.

I had the same experience... had to postpone learning for a job interview. Remember to straight shave as much as possible -- you'll learn faster that way!

Congrats on the shave. I did the same thing, just used my right hand for the entire shave, but I started using my left as it was easier to get at some places. Now that I've been using my left hand its getting easier and better. Just start using your other hand on some of the easier places to shave, and soon you'll be wondering why you didn't use it earlier. :001_tongu :wink2:

Congrats! I used 1 hand for the first 2 shaves, just to get a feel for what was going on, then tried switching hands.

Good work! The first shave isn't usually that good!! Excellent!

Haha, I think it has a lot to do with the edge LarryAndro put on it. I'm still a newb at this, but he seems like a pretty competent honer to me

Sounds great and it is always fun to learn something new!

I'm at my fifth straight shave now and the gash I put in my thumb the first time is almost healed and the other three minor nicks in face is also healing well
