My friend Jim, who owns a Gift & Antique shop, thought I was nuts when I told him last month that I was getting into DE shaving. I asked him if he had any DE razors or any other shaving gear at the shop. He said no, but he would keep a watch out for me.
I saw him yesterday & he told me to come by the shop sometime. So I stopped by this morning.
Seems a guy came in with a couple of razors, two Old Spice mugs, and a nylon shaving brush & wanted to trade for something in the store. Jim asked the guy what he wanted, & the guy pointed at some $10 thing (can't remember what) that Jim had only paid $5 for originally. Jim said okay & the guy walks out with his $10 thing & left the shaving gear with Jim.
He pulled out this I-2 Slim ('63) with a price tag of $15. It needs a good cleaning & there are some stains on the head, but otherwise everything looks good. I offered him $10 for it, & he said no, just take it! I tried again to give him $$$, but he refused.
We shot the bull for a while and then I left with my 49 year old new Slim! What a great day - what a great friend!
