were shaving soaps such as proraso, tabac, and mitchell well known like they are today back in the late 90s, early 2000s? were these shaving soaps as commercialized as they are today in shaving forums back then or is it something relatively new to consumers in the u.s.? when did these shaving soaps become really popular on shaving forums as far being well known instead of being relatively unknown to people in the u.s.? when was proraso, tabac, and mitchell shave soaps unknown on shaving forums even to people living in the u.s.? were proraso, tabac, and mitchell shave soaps well known and popular on shaving forums in the lat 90s, early 2000s for consumers living in the u.s.? what do you guys have to say about these shave soaps?

I just bought Barbasol and wasn't aware of any of the brands you mention.
Now, I only buy Williams Mug Soap. I wouldn't consider any others.

I think it depends on where you live and what soap you are talking about.
For example, I'm sure Proraso was a household name at least in Italy (and probably other ares of Europe) for a long time.
I know that my Dad used Williams soap in the 60s and early 70s until he switched to cartridges and canned goo.
I also suspect that in the 90's and 2000's (double naught ... as Jethro Bodine would say
) DE saving wasn't really talked about in chat groups to the extent we do now because it was considered a normal hygiene routine like brushing your teeth.
I know what I talked about in the 90's and 2000's was Windows 95, 32 bit operating systems and how to get on newsgroups and download teh warez or porn ..
