weepers :(

So i think im going to have to give up de shaving for a while, every time i shave i end up with 15 or so weepers, they arent big and dont bleed long but it's obnoxious and my neck is all cut up - so i think i need to maybe switch to that bump fighter razor - any other advice? please?

Give us a run-down of your prep and shave steps. Also tell what razor and blades you're using.

Off the top of my head, I'd say lay off of the ATG, slow down, let everything heal up before shaving again, and check your technique: you might be using more pressure than you think you are. Also, angle might be off.

How many passes are you doing? Also, you may want to dry a different blade. I got a lot more weepers with a Derby than I did with Super Iridiums, for example. Also, good prep is key. Take your time and try a hot towel.

Well, there are an almost infinite number of variables. But there are three main variables you should be worrying about.

1) Razor blade. Have you tried a variety of blades? Not all blades agree with all skin types or razors.
2) Razor. I see from your sig line that you are using a ball end tech, which a real mild shaver. Some guys have trouble with real mild shavers, I did. I switched to a more aggressive razor and used a lighter touch for a better shave.
3) Pressure! You're not using any, right?

One more for good measure. It is critical your beard is properly prep'ed prior to shaving!

I get weepers when DE shaving occasionally also, but I got them shaving with a cartridge razor as well. I can't give you advice based on years of DE shaving experience, but I can give some advice based on my short term use of DE razors. That would be: slow down. Take your time.

I don't know the cause of your problems, but I can tell you that most of mine result from being in too much of a rush. Things like using too much pressure and trying to shave on the rounded contours of my face (i.e. jaw line, adam's apple, and chin).

Another suggestion I could give would be to give yourself plenty of time between shaves. A couple or three days, if you can make it that long, always seems to give my face time to recover and heal before the next shave.

I don't know if this will help, but I hope it does!

i've been switching off on what razors and blade, my best shave ever has been with a slim set on 2 or 3 with gillette 7 o clock's. I dont use next to any pressure. i think my angle is very slight. no atg i could try i guess

mostly on my neck is where i get them. I've switched between a star tech replica and a gillette slim on nothing higher than 5. I shave every other day max and still get a lot of weepers every time. why would more prep give me weepers?

Agreed! The shave I get with my Merkur 34c is much more gentle than the shave I get with the Ball end tech. Maybe try dialing up the adjustable you have.

give me 2 or 3 days and i'll try that. if that doesnt work i'm going to try the bumpfighter blade

I had to re-read the answers to try to understand your response. You asked, "why would more prep give me weepers?" Nobody said that more prep would result in weepers. The opposite may be a solution to your problem. Better preparation prior to setting blade to face will undoubtedly improve your shaving experience.

Also, take it easy on your skin. Others have already said it. No pressure, fewer passes. No ATG until you and your skin are ready for it.

I often wonder if one's skin learns to accommodate the weeping? When I first started I would nearly weep to death then I started changing razors and blades. I've been DEing for two years now and I think my skins has acclimated to blood letting. I don't have nearly as many weepers and when I do I can dab or wipe a time of two and it stops. I haven't used a band aid in many moons.

15 weepers; it almost has to be blade alignment to get that many. Even though you are using a mild razor, you don't know what kind of abuse or misuse happened before it was yours, try a different razor, inspect how the blade looks on each side, is it level, is it "cocked" at an end, does it extend the same distance on each side, is it flat the length of the blade?????
good luck,
ken

what i meant was why would more prep give me less weepers, but someone answered, haha sorry about that, the thing is it's not the razor because i change the razor often and it always happens, it's bumps on my skin...

You might also try a different cream. Kiss My Face is super smooth and slick, and provides an excellent shave. I also noticed that when I stretched my neck by holding my chin high in the air i got a cleaner less irritated shave.

Why don't you give us a complete rundown of exactly what you do from entering the bathroom to shave until you step away from the sink. We'll probably find a half dozen things you can do better.
