What's new

wedding rings

for guys -- are there any decent online shops for men's wedding bands? I went to a couple of jewelers in town and wasn't keen on the prices -- surely there has to be a quality, but cheaper alternative online. any suggestions?

My wedding band is like the one below, although it is in Paladium, which is a mixed metal of Platinum and Titanium (I think) which look every bit as good as platinum, and is just as durable, and mine was 1/2 the cost! It is ScottKay brand, and I think they are the only ones who have palladium right now... Mine cost $650, whereas the platinum cost nearly $2k.

I got mine from Roger's Jewlers, but I think that is just a CA shop, so YYMV...

+1 for paladium

My wife and I both have it on our rings and I am so glad I did. It more durable than gold, lighter than platnum which is pretty heavy and it looks great. I love my ring. Best part is it is not much more expensive than gold.

Titanium was what I wanted but it cant be resized so that was out of the question

Along with what Sparkchaser said, if you want a nicely celtic romantic twist, have a look at Claddagh rings. Nice romantic story behind them and all that.

I wear one, (the only jewelery that I wear, excepting my fine collection of cool watches), given to me by someone I'll never see again. The Sigfem doesn't like it but she tolerates it.

Gaseous,

I'm wondering where you went?

Have you tried this place http://www.perrycohnjewelers.com/default.aspx ?

We use them exclusively for all our jewelry needs.

I hope they can help you. Ask for Lenny or Ron.

.

Palladium is an element, apparently a very stylish one. Thanks for a great idea.

I bought 18k rose gold bands for my wife and me online from a jeweler and did very well on them. The transaction was good, the rings are nice, and I felt great about it...

...until a year and a half later when they sent me an email offering to buy them back! Now THAT is tacky!

I didn't want anything overly ornate. I decided on a plain platinum band. Shopped around and found exactly what I was looking for..........at Costco.

95% pure platinum band, 3/16 inch wide, and if I remember correctly it was $400. That was almost 6 years ago though. I don't know how much they may have gone up since, but do check out your local Costco.

A lot of my friends have gone with titanium. It's indestructible and with all the money you spent on an engagement ring, it's a way to save some bucks over gold or platinum.

Good luck and congratulations.

Congrats on your new adventure! I got a Benchmark Platinum Comfort Band at a killer price. It is solid, heavy, and plain. Just what I wanted.

Ok - so it isn't a budget option, it does give you a sense of satisfaction knowing it is one-of-a-kind.

My wife is Samoan, so I used a Samoan 'frangipani' pattern as the basis. It was made with 4 marquee cuts ceylonese sapphires. Once she approved the design, I had a jeweller make it for me.

Of course when we went shopping for a wedding ring, nothing would go with it, so I had to design a wedding band to go with it. Next step is she now wants an eternity ring - I will have to design that too.

Designing doesn't have to be costly - but you will get something you both want.

I have a gold and diamond wedding band, but I bought a tungsten band for everyday wear. Tungsten is the most indestructible material you can get a ring in. It won't scratch like titanium.

I bought it from E-Wedding Bands. They sell all materials like yellow and white gold, platinum, palladium, titanium, ceramic, and tungsten. They also have diamond rings. Their prices are better than most I've seen.
