What's new

We have a winner.

I forget how long ago...It's been a while...
I ordered a sample pack of razors from West Coast Shaving, just to try them out.

I was happy enough with whatever razors I found on my rare trips to Wally World, so I wasn't expecting much, thinking I'd go back to my regulars when I used up all the samples.

And, truth be told, All the razors in the pack were good.

But Feather was, in my humble opinion, the clear winner for me.
Going back to my cheap-o's, I felt like I was sandpapering my face in comparison.

Now, I've been spoiled.

I guess I'll have to get around placing an order.

I wonder how many people opened up this thread thinking that maybe there was a PIF that closed and they could be the winner :)

My choice so far, still blade testing stage. I test 3-5 blades then shave with a Feather to remind myself what I like about the blade. There are other good ones out there though.

True...All the blades in the sample pack were good.

My method was hardly scientific: I just stacked up the sample packets and started shaving until each was used up. Then I switched to the next brand. The Feathers were on the bottom of the pile...The last ones to be used.

In my curmudgeonly and jaded mind, I assumed the I wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference between any of them them and as I progressed, that indeed turned out to be the case. Still...All were good.

By the time I got to the Feathers, my intent was to yawn my way through them and go back to whatever was cheapest at Wally World. In fact, I had already bought some there to use when I was done with the samples.

When I started with my first Feather though, I immediately was impressed. When I was done with the packet, I was still impressed.

But after I went back to my normal good-enough blades...

Whoa!

I'd been spoiled.

So I'm not saying Feathers are the Ultima-Shava for all and everyone, but I'm a fan.

I haven't used any blades other than Merkurs and Personna Red Packs, but I truly look forward to trying feathers someday soon.

I've read they don't always fare well on longevity, but I'd probably overlook that for a good shave!
