We Finally Caught Him.

I appreciate the thanks but the real thanks goes to the investigators that handled this for the past eight years and never let it drop. They were diligent, professional, and they never tired. Not through the endless amounts of red tape and not due to this being an old case. They never get the thanks that are due to them, but believe me, they are getting it from everywhere now and it's about time.

Thanks also have to go the Phoenix Police Department, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (never thought I'd say that, Arpaio--I love MCSO but their boss irks me), the FBI, and the U.S. Army for being helpful in this case. It was a lot of teamwork that finally brought this to a close.

PHX misses you, Bret.

A lot of people probably don't realize how hard it is to investigate a high profile (I don't mean media attention and the sort but a crime that does serious harm and carries a lengthy sentence) crime. Investigators and prosecutors have to be flawless. Evidence has to be collected meticulously and processed/stored perfectly. They have to keep to the grind and never let less than 100% be allowed. Make all this doubly hard and you have an arson investigation. Defense lawyers look for any minuscule technicality to get their client off. Strong work to the team and justice will be served.

Several years ago, I observed a long federal arson/insurance fraud trial. Fortunatly, no one was injured in that case. The testimony from fire inspectors and other experts was just amazing. After the fire, a crane was brought to the scene to remove debris layer by layer while searching for minute evidence. And the prosecutors managed to keep a piece of debris close enough to the jury so that they could smell the burnt odor, many months after the fire. The respectable business owners responsible for that one went to the penitentiary. Any arson can turn deadly. Firefighters deserve so much more than society gives them.

Wow, talk about not giving up. Chalk one up for the good guys. I have nothing for respect for the Phoenix and surrounding areas FD. Too bad that this is not page one news everywhere.

Always nice to hear of people getting what's coming to them. You really have to mind your p's and q's in these types of cases. A fine job by those agencies.

Anybody who works in emergency services has my respect. They run into harms way when the rest of us are running out.

i would wait till the verdict, especialy when so much time has passed since the crime to trial, if he is guilty, i hope he pays for what he has done, but untill the jury gives out a verdict, i suggest you dont celebrate much,
