What's new

Water hardness and brush choice.

Hi all,
do any of you notice a difference between badger and boar when it comes to building lather in areas with hard water?

I live in a very hard water area and find boar better.

If I put a bit of soda in the water first it is a bit better, but not sure if this is good for skin or equipment.

Any thoughts?

Mike.

The differences in performance between badger and boar don't seem to be related to water hardness to me. I've used both in hard and soft water. Maybe you just like boars better.

Well, I do actually. I used the same one for nearly 20 years. In that time I splashed out on a good badger but stopped using it after a month as it felt "wrong" to me.

I'm now on an Omega 80026 (i think) and the lather is much richer than the new-ish badger I have now. Although this cheaper badger is a lot better than the previous expensive one.
