Watch Ya Wearing

Finally, at long last, I'm wearing my heirloom Omega. It's a 1970 Constellation that was my grandfather's and then my dad's. Stephen at Quality Watch Repair in Portland, Oregon did a great job in getting it back into shape.

A Seiko Alpinist. It has a rotating compass bezel, so the watch can be used as a compass, at least on sunny days. When watch is set to standard time, not daylight saving you can get a fairly accurate determination of south, by pointing the hour hand at the sun. The point halfway between the hour hand and 12 o'clock is south. Rotate compass bezel so south matches that point on watchface then when pointing hour hand to the sun you can determine a direction to follow.
