My Washita collection. I had quite a few but kept the most interesting/fastest ones

That salmon blushed one is nice.
I have had this in sg for a week now. It reminds me of that one I regret selling. It's iced tea color in most places just like it and if you look on the end is full of those flecks again. The top is actually accepting oil despite the staining but i need to lap it anyway and that won't be fun. I will need to do a dunk sg calculation once I have it set up properly.
Very nice stones.
I believe this is a washita. It is very hard and smooth as glass. More of a fine grit and semi translucent.

Two Washita that need some cleaning and work. A 6” No 1 Pike and a 7” India/Washita combo. The six is in a very low mileage condition, no dings or chips with little signs of wear. The seven must have been loved, nicely dished. Both are in the dip and see what come out in a few days

Hey Toro, I might have the cousin of one your rocks. They might have been neighbors in the same vein. A old Washita, 9 x 1 1/2 with a 1 1/8” working surface. Like yours, it is a good looker. Nice rosey color, translucent thru on all sides with speckled banding. Guessing by the oxidation on the wood and stone, mid to late 1800’s. It is my bevel setter on heavy smiles. The stone is hard and fast but leaves a minimal scratch pattern

A Lot with a Thuri and 2 Washita hung around on eBay for a bit too long at a reasonable BIN, so I broke down and sent the seller an offer just below asking and they accepted.
I was hopeful. Thuri was broken, but right at the end, so still a full 7" usable (and it wound up having a tiny bit of label confirming it's an escher).
The two 8" Washitas looked to me like a WWD or preen boxed LW and a red translucent... and if so, it was a steal... but there was a bit of a gamble.
They get here and it was jackpot results. The Bigger washita is a highly translucent red, the crack, even though it appears on both sides isn't all the way through, and is stable and doesn't catch a razor. It's practically a two sided stone. "top" side is nice and aggressive, rips through steel. Flip it over and it's like a hard fine LW in performance.
The smaller one does appear to be a WoodWorkersDelight or similar wood boxed vintage. It's a dead ringer (size, performance, glue pattern) for my "mystery" wood boxed stone that is a beautiful extra soft and fast stone that beats out most lily whites I've owned. A stone that's too good to ever sell.

Wow! They do look related. I kept that skinny lady because of her performance. She eats steel like very few others. I love those old handmade boxes too. So she was a keeper. Excellent skinny Washita.

I've got a skinny red one like that... acts like a crazy fast and regular Turkey more than like a Washita, but with Washita feedback. Those red washita's are something else when it comes to mass removal.

Thanks gents, I am just a simple man who get lucky every now and than by finding a stone here and there.
And sometimes I am surrounded by assassins, like today.
I find a ad on CL a few miles from my house. A large barber box collection from dad who passed it 1974. I text “any stones or hones” and told nothing like that.
Me, who never takes no for a answer, carefully examined the pictures. What is this I see, low and behold what do we have here. I text picture back with items circled, asked if still available and told “ I did not even know that was there”-ASSASSIN.
I buy another Coti for a dirt price. As I am ready to leave, seller tells me he is tired at looking at all this stuff. For some more dirt, buy it all. ASSASSIN!!! Now I go home with
another twenty pounds of stuff, but for this rock, worth it

Have had this in simple green continuously for weeks. It's amazing how slowly this thing is stripping but it keeps clearing up..
Could this maybe be a Washita? 6 x 3 x 1.5 should be here Wednesday
I think you hit the jackpot! It being 1.5 inches thick would make it most likely pike era. Some of the best IMHO, looks semi translucent and not used very much. Score brother! 6×3×1.5 you dont see to many of those even less in washita! I would be willing to bet it is razor quality too. Nice find!

Well not sure what this thing is to be honest, cleaned it up with a 400 grit diamond pad. It is very slick and smooth on both sides. When sprayed with water it does soak it up but when submerged it releases no air bubbles. Zero light shines threw it, so dif not a translucent.
