Wash your face after shaving

I wouldn't consider it face washing, I rinse the residual soap from the shave off with cold water, apply alum, and then rinse that off with more cold water before drying my face and applying an aftershave splash, sometimes followed by an aftershave balm.

I’ve always washed my face with the lather left in my brush. I’ve been doing that since 1977.

Bar soap seems duplicative to me. I rinse my face with cold water after my last pass, then apply alum, then rinse the alum off with more cold water, then apply witch hazel using a cotton ball, leave it to air dry and finish with an aftershave splash. If my face feels dry I’ll apply a balm before the splash. I feel this approach would do away with any shave soap residue.

+1. My exact routine, though I very rarely apply more than 1 AS after WH. I tried it and it's too much product for me. If my skin feels dry I'll just use alcohol-free balm.

I wipe soap residue off my face with a shave towel, then I clean up with Witch Hazel--currently using the wipes I posted about previously.
