What's new

Was I shipped the wrong cream?

I ordered TOBS "Shaving Shop" shave cream. What I got was labeled "Lavender Shaving Cream". The picture of the product on Amazon shows "Shaving Shop" then "Lavender" below it. I assumed that Lavender and "Shaving Shop" were 2 different scents. Should I be sending this back for the right product?

Here is the link to the item I ordered:

Lavender and Shaving Shop are two different scents. It appears that the picture in the amazon listing is deceptive. But based on the name of the product on the page I would have thought you should receive Shaving Shop and not Lavender.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I think I'll probably return them... Amazon is pretty good about returns. I opened one up (wasn't sealed) and took a whiff. Lavender isn't bad, but I was looking forward to something else.

I believe the older tubs had the label printed on the plastic. Newer tubs should have a sticker on top.

I could see how the listing would be confusing since it says "shaving shop" but the pic shows a jar of lavender shave cream.

Note the words "Shaving Shop" above the word "Lavender" on the label in the Amazon pic. This is confusing.

I'm not aware of a "Shaving Shop" being a scent from TOBS.

Shaving Shop and Lavender are indeed two very different scents from TOBS. Although Taylor's lavender is a very nice, if you don't like it send it back.

I thought Shaving Shop was sort of a lemony scent...but it has been a long time, could be wrong.

heck! use it! analyze...review...let us now! life gives many opportunities that are unexpected...

I would consider it, but in addition to being the wrong cream, I was charged for (and received) 2 tubs. I think I had added one during another session. I caught it and removed it from the cart, but I still ended up with it :glare:
I think I'll send them back and maybe pick up a tub from shavingessentials - they have speick and valobra shave sticks... been face lathering and using my pucks as sticks recently and liking it.

It sounds reasonable to me.,,,,,,

I like Amazon for a lot of things. Shaving stuff is not included among them. I strongly prefer using the small, dedicated vendors that I know have an intimate knowledge and love for the products they sell.

I believe the older tubs had the label printed on the plastic. Newer tubs should have a sticker on top.

The change from printed labels to stickers took place over four years ago, at the same time TOBS creams were reformulated. Any printed-label tubs are old formulation and have been around for quite a while - although some would consider themselves lucky to find them.

I have a tub of newer formulation lavender cream (sticker on the lid), which I've had for several years now. It looks just like Scott's; the label does say "lavender," but it does not say "Shaving Shop." Either TOBS has redesigned their labels in an utterly confusing fashion, or something weird is going on with that stock Amazon/MiN is selling. Has anybody tried contacting TOBS to see what they have to say on the matter?
