Warming Shave Cream

We all know that shave cream like Proraso cools your face because of the menthol. Are there any shave creams out there that warm your face on contact, stay warm on your face, or just leave your face warm? (I'm not referring to a warmed up lather)

not that ive heard of.

the kind of stuff they put in that warming muscle cream would probably irritate shaved skin.

Get yourself a scuttle... Every cream will be warming then.. ;)

totally agree, but he wants it on contact, not a lather that has been warmed. I honestly know of no product, or can think of any additive (at least that I would recommend) that can give you what you are looking for.

I have heard that some of the spices added to food (cayenne, paprika, nutmeg) can improve capillary bloodflow when applied to the skin when mixed with a balm or gel, and this would provide a warming feeling. HOWEVER I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS. IF THE PROPORTIONS ARE OFF, YOUR FACE IS TOTALLY SCREWED. I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT ACTUALLY WORKS!

Sure they make them, dozens of them. Here's why I say that -- if there was a way to conduct a search of the archives, and we put in the phrase "it burns my face" I bet we'd find a ton of shaving products that have been accused of that very thing. I bought one once, about 6 months ago, applied it, and WOAH, that's HOT, get it OFF! It's not just a myth or a legend, it really does happen. However, I do understand exactly what you are saying, and it is a good point.

My wife discovered a product called Bliss Homme Improvement Thermal Shaving Cream that's retailed through a company called bluemercury, Inc. and is available through several online sources, including Amazon.com (in addition to bluemercury retail stores). http://www.amazon.com/Bliss-homme-im.../dp/B000RFUY3G

Perusing the many ingredients, I see that it does use a black pepper oil along with camphor bark oil, citrus oil and lost of other stuff. I'll admit that I'm totally out of my league when reading the ingredients on beauty products, so I'll leave it at that.

I found this thread: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...me+improvement discussing it and another pre-shave product https://www.billyjealousy.com/itemdetail.cfm?id=82 that is made to be specifically used in combination with a shave cream.

By the accounts I've read, neither product provides a lasting warmth effect. I joked a few weeks ago about blending capsaicin in, but Boba Fett points out that that would be unwise.

Bummer, I couldn't get any of those links to work. Those products must not have been "hot" selling items!

maybe something in clove would work...?

+1--In my experience (and YMMV, of course) I have found Wesley & Scott Clove and Peppermint ASB from Shaving Essentials to have a temporary warming effect on my face (and it has a very pleasant scent, IMO). However, I do not know of a shaving cream having this type of action.
