Wardonia New Edge Razor

So I was browsing the auction listing looking for an anvil and stumbled across this picture, there are a couple of Autostrops and some straights, but what caught my eye was the Wardonia New Edge Razor, or at least the box for one. Has anyone here used one and is it worth my time going to check this one out. No anvil at that auction so the razors would be all I was going for.

Thanks
George

Wardonia doesn't take DE blades. Or at least you have to make them "fit" with a pair of pliers. Wardonia blades have 3 holes of which the outher 2 are slots; they fitted DE razors but DE blades have their "holes" in the wrong position.

Thanks for the information, guess I will stay home and not got to that auction:thumbup1: I like to use my razors and the thought of having to modify the blade to work is a turn off for my. I guess I will just keep looking for old Gillettes at te flea markets and antique shops.

This is true of their Bakelite razors but the much rarer metal Old type clones use standard spacing.

They don't show the razor itself, just the box with a bunch of other saving stuff

I did notice this time around that it has " The Pilot Set" written across the bottom, I will have to do a bit more searching on it

I am no Wardonia expert so correct me if I am wrong but AFAIK all the Wardonia's called 'New Edge' only take the typical Wardonia blades and are all made from urea (and not bakelite).

I'm not familiar with the 'New Edge' but Waites' compendium refers to a 'Bakelite plastic NEW EDGE Rugby set and others.' The picture shows what looks like a brown Bakelite handle and baseplate with a metal cap.

Incidentally, I just bought a Wardonia razor on Ebay. It's the metal Old Type that was sold with it that I wanted:

I imagine I'll PIF the Wardonia. I like open comb razors and I don't really like Bakelite.
