I bought me a Merkur Vision razor a few months back but I don't want to take it with me when I travel as it was $200. Any ideas what razor out of the Merkur range that is inexpensive would make a good travel razor?
Unless you are absolutely wedded to Merkurs, I would suggest you try a Tech. I bought a second just for my travel kit. The 3 piece design is convenient to breakdown and they can be had for cheap.
I agree on the Tech. I travel and camp with one and a very abbreviated kit. Just the Tech, a Body Shop synthetic brush, for faster dry time, and a bar of glycerin soap, that doubles for body and face. And, of course, the Thayers and organic hemp oil to finish. I find the Tech forgiving enough to use in challenging times. It is inexpensive and it does pack down pretty nicely if needed, but I carry mine in a plastic, soap container so I can leave the blade in it.

Do they still make the tech?
Absolutely a Tech. They can be had for a song, and don't take up much space. Best of all, they give a great shave.Unless you are absolutely wedded to Merkurs, I would suggest you try a Tech.
I'm pretty sure Feather travels are no longer made (I would love to have one)
but the "popular" brand is really cheap, comes in a nice plastic case for easy travel, and is a deceptively nice razor.
If you pm the member Pauldog, he is most likely able to sell you NOS Feather Portable (the all solid metal travel razor) for a very good bargain buy. I got mine a few months ago.Quote:
