Wanting to try a WSP Monarch brush

I was looking at the gallery the other day and I say a WSP (Wet Shaving Products) Monarch brush. I have become completely infatuated with this brush. Anyone out there have one that they could tell me about? I'm not all up to date on all the brush lingo so please keep the terms simple! Also, if I do decide to pop on one of these, where is the cheapest place to get one? Thanks in advance!!!

"The Monarch" premium silvertip brush. I have one on order.

"Another creation of the WSP brand, this time using their premium silvertip hair instead of the superfine 2 band or the High Mountain White badger hair and the same handle than the Monarch series, the Kent BK4 style. Actually this brush is what many of us will like the Kent BK4 to be, with the right amount of backbone and flow (the BK4 is very soft, on the floppy side brush for me) so it can be used perfectly fine with both triple milled soaps and shaving creams."

"The Prince in silvertip, is more of a face lathering brush. Its behaviour is very similar to the Rooney 1/1 in silvertip, due to the hair density of the knot, its measures, soft tips, right amount of flow and backbone, so if you already have tried a Rooney 1/1 you know what Im talking about."

My new "Monarch" High Mountain White Silvertip Badger Shaving Brush arrived last week. So far I like it but it does not have much backbone. It works great with soft soaps and shaving creams and is one of the softest brushes I have. The pictures are misleading as this brush is quite small but fits well in the hand.

The Prince got high ratings as well. Perhaps I will order a Prince in the future.

I have a Rudy Vey R7 in Amboyna Burl with one of the WSP Superfine 2 band knots. I absolutely love it. Enough backbone for the hardest soaps yet the softest tips without a hint of even any scritch whatsoever. I love it!! I would highly recommend you try the WSP 2 band Superfine Knot put into a handle made by an artisan of your choice.

I love my WSP Monarch 2-band super! I'm probably going to ask oscar11 to make me a handle and mount another WSP Monarch 2-band Super in it with just a shorter loft, although not because it doesn't perform as is, but because I intend to face lather and like a stiff brush with soft tips!

These are GREAT brushes...buy with Confidence, Lee stands behind his brushes, and is a GREAT gent to deal with!

Cheers!

No experience with the Monarch, but I have a Prince. If it's a step above that then it's bound to be a nice one. I really like the Prince.

WSPs... very soft tips yet good backbone... The Stubby in the picture is the beta prior to the production run (26/54m).

I still haven't tried one but I guess I need to buy one. The cheapest I have seen the monarch is about $69 on eBay. Anybody know of anywhere to get one cheaper?

Sorry to pick up an old thread. I bought the WSP Monarch High Mountain White silvertip from Amazon (had to have it shipped to my mailbox in Michigan since for some reason they would not ship to Canada) for $109.00.

I'm no brush expert, but, this brush is pretty incredible. I find it has a really nice solid weight to the handle, and fits very well in my hands. It has a nice scrubbiness and backbone, but, when full of lather and working onto my face, it is amazing how soft and how much it holds...feels luxurious and incredible. Works like a dream.

I have used it with soaps and creams, in bowls, a scuttle, face and hand lathered. Two or three swirls erupts very quick luxurious lather. There has been very minimal hair loss, which, is only to be expected from a new brush.

I would give this brush pretty good marks. For the price, I think its a good one. Maybe its not a Plisson, Rooney, or other brand, and of those I can't say anything because I'm not lucky to have experienced them--one day, I hope! But I do feel pretty lucky to have one of these.
