Walking Horse English Bridle

I picked up an English Bridle strop from the Walking Horse strop company about 1 month ago. I have been impressed with the quality, but what really impressed me was the feel of the blade going over the leather. It does not have that waxy feel that some strops do. Has anyone else picked up one of these strops yet?

I just noticed a few days ago that thesuperiorshave has Walking Horse Cordovan
Strop for sale. Has anybody tried the Cordovan yet?

Thanks Will, I was hoping for a direct contact to the company.

By the looks of it, price wise the horse butt is not Cordovan but rather "North of Cordovan".

Ray, the shell cordovan is a bit further down the page.

While looking into English Bridle strops, I decided to give Walkin' Horse a try.

On my request, the strop area is 16 inches by 3 inches wide. I prefer short strops because my set-up keeps the strop and blade in front of me. My English Bridle has no imperfections or blemishes. This strop is a hefty 4 mm thick and feels substantial when stropping. If you like thick strops, as I do, this is the strop for you. No Fromm Strop Dressing was needed, the strop felt ready for stropping. The resulting draw is heavier than Black Tanned Vegetable and much heavier than Horsehide.

The cloth portion of this strop is webbed cotton, a new feature. While not as aggressive as polypropylene (webbed synthetic), I find that cotton leaves a cleaner edge and it's draw, while not a heavy as polypropylene, is a great compliment to English Bridle.

This strop comes with D Rings on the bottom, mounting hardware on top and Chicago screws to hold everything in place. Changing components is extremely easy and I don't anticipate durability to be an issue.

As far as efficiency this strop does a great job, the resulting edge is at par with strops of twice the cost. I did 30 laps on the cotton and 60 on English Bridle with excellent results. Highly recommended.

I also had the chance to test this with three other brands of the same price range, the English Bridle had a great feal in the two others I tested along with this one, so i am sold there, but was not impressed with the un-even cuts of the leather, so quality was a little lacking, but for the price I give it a 7 out of 10, not sure if i should keep it, or resell on ebay, one things is for sure though, wouldn't mind seeing something that looks a little different than all these Tony Miller look a likes......
