What's new

Wacker?

What's the concensus on Wackers? I read Joel's less than positive review from a few years back but there hasn't been much info lately. They're nice looking razors but I'd like a little positive feedback before I pull the trigger.

Mine is a great shaving razor. Very hard steel, a little tricky to hone. The fit and finish, which I recall being the biggest complaint about them, is great. Better than the one Livi I have, vastly superior to one of my two new production TIs.

Shoot me a PM and I'll give you my complete opinion, if you are interested. The ins and outs as I see them, as it were.

I'd like to try one of these someday.

They have the looks I like in a straight razor - classic and big
If they perform just as good as they look, I'd be interested in having one.

I had one, a 7/8" full hollow made from a Sheffield steel blank.

Beautiful edge, easy to hone and a great shave.

I received mine second hand and it had a faulty pin and needed honing up quite badly. But the normal sharpening and pin replacement were easy and uneventful. The gold wash on the blade is a bit thin, but nothing new there either.

Generally, I would say they are good razors. I certainly enjoyed owning mine.

I've a WAKER DORKO (no 1051 of the catalogue) and have only positiv experiences.
It's beautiful made, huge, solid scales.
A little difficult to hone, because it is very hard steel, like the new TI steel.
But once honed in, it keeps the edge. The shave is very smooth, not over sharp, but smooth. It's even possible to put some pressure on the blade without cutting the skin! (It's not a Feather like blade:wink:)
I will cetainly buy another Wacker some day.
The razors are certainly not overpriced.

The one I got is a Wacker Jungmeister in 6/8. It's a nice straight with every aspect of quality I could wish for.
